Double Dutch Slots

Experienced players know well that slot game can come in various shapes and be influenced by plenty of themes.

That being said, some developers like to stick to basic features and offer some old-school betting to their customers. Simbat does that quite well, and we are here to take a look at Double Dutch, a video slot game that perfectly illustrates the old-school trend amongst recent games. No need to look for any kind of backstory or complicated animations here, it is all about the reels and a progressive gameplay.

Let’s get right down to it and take a closer look at Double Dutch in our complete review of the game, where we will examine every aspect of the game from the graphics to the rewards at stake…

Classic Slot Machine Simulator at Its Best

Double Dutch is a perfect example of an old-school game, and it shows right away once the game has loaded on your computer.

As a player, you will be facing a giant and realistic vintage slot machine. The entire game screen is filled with flashing lights, an impressive and interactive paytable that lights up as you progress through the game and plenty of command buttons at the bottom.

Without being exactly visually stunning, Double Dutch makes a great impression and if you love old-school slot machines then you will feel right at home - or at your local casino. Do not let the many options on the screen turn you off, let’s see how to get the game started in the next section.

Plenty of Levels to Choose From

Double Dutch has many rules but everything revolves around a basic gameplay, which we will detail here so that you can start betting right away.

The game matrix features 3 reels and a single horizontal payline in the base game. As you probably know already, your goal is to land winning symbol combinations onto that payline in order to trigger cash prizes. All spins cost 1 credit by default, so all you need to do is keep the reels spinning. After a win, a very basic double-or-nothing mini game starts. You can choose to pocket your winnings without playing it. Click the button with the right timing to gradually double your reward, or else it will be halved.

If you want to speed up the game and keep on playing for a longer time, simply turn on the autoplay game mode. This will give Double Dutch permission to keep the reels spinning automatically and bet 1 credit times and times over until you say otherwise. Note that reels can be held into place and released at will throughout the game. Should you come up one symbol short for a win, the reels concerned will be held automatically for the next spin.

What to Look out for on the Reels

We will be coming to the other game levels shortly, but let’s first look at the paytable. All the reel symbols and combinations are used throughout the game, regardless of your bet level.

The most common symbols are the cherries, lemons and oranges. All of these combinations are worth 4 credits in the base game, which is not much but is most likely to occur given how common the symbols actually are on the reels.

The last fruits are the plums, grapes and watermelons, for 32 credits. Bells, bars, sevens and hats can trigger up to 200 credits in reward for combinations of three identical symbols. Note that combinations of two symbols are also valid, but much less valuable.

Step up Your Game

In order to truly take advantage of all the possibilities offered by Double Dutch, you will need to take some extra risks. Notice that all the credits you win are kept in a separate counter. You can either pocket them right away or use them to bet on the reels again.

The other game modes are called bet 5, 10 and 20. This corresponds to the number of credits you need to engage them. This will also activate extra paylines on the reels, as well as larger rewards of course.

Finally, keep an eye out for the double up symbols. Every time one or more appears on the reels, it adds points to one of the two bonus counters at the top. You will gradually win bonus games as you do so, which once triggered can award an extra prize of up to 200 credits as displayed on the giant diamonds.

Let’s Go Dutch

Double Dutch is best played at one of the higher bet levels, as the basic game only offers modest prizes.

The double up bonus game is also handy, but quite tricky to trigger on a regular basis. As always, perseverance is key.
