Terracotta Wilds

Terracotta Wilds Slots

If a huge number of paylines and more wild features than you can shake a bamboo staff are what you look for in a slot, Spinomenal might just have the game for you in the shape of Terracotta Wilds.

Featuring 5-reels, a whopping 100 active paylines and “soldiers rebirth” feature that turns all of the higher value symbols wild, the game is all about consistently awarding cash payouts – and if you strike it lucky with a Mega Win, you’ll earn yourself enough gold to start a dynasty of your own!

With a “pick me” bonus feature, free spins and multiplier wilds all present and correct on the game’s main reels, there are plenty of gimmicks that add to the appeal of Terracotta Wilds, but none of them compromise what is essentially a very easy game to get to grips with, even for beginners and some of these features have been seen before on Spinomenal slots like the Toys of Joy slot.

Treasures Of The East

Essentially, Terracotta Wilds plays like most other conventional five-reel slots, but the presence of 100 active paylines means there are more ways to win, albeit at a higher cost per spin than most other games using the format. The trade-off for this, however, is that when you do collect a number of wilds in one spin, you can expect multiple paylines to be triggered and big prizes to be awarded.

Symbols range in value from a paltry 2x your stake per line for matching three of the number ten symbols to an altogether more impressive 300x your stake for scoring a horse icon on all five reels in a recognised payline. When you couple that with the presence of the game’s wilds, which quadruple your payout when four icons are substituted, that makes a maximum win of 1,200x stake per line.

The Past Comes Alive

In terms of visuals, Terracotta Wilds takes plenty of inspiration from the stone army of Qin Shi Huang and other traditional elements from the Far East. Set in an oriental mausoleum, the game sees players bring the statues of the past back to life whenever the red dragon appears on the fifth reel.

Adding to the traditional Asian feel of the game, the higher value symbols all depict units from the First Qin Emperor’s militia, with stone soldiers, generals, horses and mounted cavalry all featuring across the five reels. The game’s colour scheme uses the dark reds, browns and greys that you’d associate with Terracotta sculptures, while the fonts used are definitely based on Asian calligraphy.

Similarly, the music used in Terracotta Wilds is definitely inspired by that period in history, with gentle strings making way for a rousing battle march when a spin is initiated. Sound effects, meanwhile, range from a booming gong to notes on a mandolin whenever a payline is triggered.

Emperor’s Choice

There are three notable features present in Terracotta Wilds, namely the bonus round, free spins feature and soldiers rebirth bonus. The first is triggered when three or more sun and stars scatter symbols appear anywhere on the gameboard. Players will then be prompted to pick one of the symbols, flipping it over to reveal an instant cash prize that can be up to 50x your total stake.

Free spins, meanwhile, are activated when three or more horse-drawn chariots appear on the slot’s five reels. When this happens, players instantly receive 3x their stake for the line and are then awarded ten free spins, with this feature potentially being re-triggered an infinite number of times.

The most unusual of Terracotta Wilds’ features, however, is the soldiers rebirth bonus. During every spin, a red dragon will appear above the bottom symbol on the fifth reel, and should this symbol be an army unit when the reels stop, all matching symbols on the board will come to life and transform into wilds. Though a red dragon over an A-10 icon or bonus symbol does nothing, when soldiers rebirth is successfully triggered, some huge combination wins can be activated on the right boards.

Less Is More

While Spinomenal have tried a different, ahem, spin on the classic five-reel format, we’ve found the 100 paylines to be slightly misleading. True, players do win frequently, but the wins tend to be small in comparison to other slots of this nature and it is only really when a good run of bonus spins or a perfectly-timed soldiers rebirth comes along that you genuinely get any real bang for your buck. This is a very similar payout system to Spinomenal's other popular slots such as the Tennis Champion slot.
