    Slot Bound Slots

Slot Bound is one of those online slot machines where, if you were emailing the link to someone to check out, you’d feel compelled to quickly explain how ‘it’s not what it sounds like’. So, let’s begin by explaining how it’s not what it sounds like.

Put any thoughts of power games in the bedroom aside, then, because this is really a play on the word ‘spellbound’, because this 5-reel, 5-pay-line game is themed on witches, broomsticks, ravens, vampire bats, and black cats. So not just magical women in pointy hats- more of an overall Halloween style going on here – but nevertheless the focus is definitely on classic Hocus Pocus stuff.

And it does this very well, as your first impressions will show you. The images, although perhaps not the most beautiful artwork we have come across on that big old World Wide Web, they are clean, without pixels, and definitely the work of talented developers. Which is always nice up against the more crudely rendered games that litter the market, threatening to distract you from the games that are actually worth playing- like this one.

    Hubble, Bubble

As with every 5-reel online slot game, Slot Bound is all about matching up like letters, numbers and symbols. Well, OK, actually there aren’t any letters or numbers, unlike many other comparable titles, but you get the point.

By opening up the Pay table you can see the full sliding scale of pictures, and what they are each worth. As a rule of thumb, you need a minimum of three of a kind to win anything, ideally four or five, which is obviously a lot harder to do. The images themselves are very attractive, running between the treasure chest (which, unsurprisingly, is the most valuable), all the way down to some kind of magic potion.

    Good Judgement Required

So you know the fundamentals, but do you know what the ingredients are for a truly magical experience? Nope, thought not. Perhaps more appropriately, do you know what the ingredients are for success on a game like this? If you answered no again then let us offer some advice. The trick is to judge exactly how much to bet accurately, at the right time. So that means adjusting the Coin Size by adding or taking away (+ or -) using the meter in the bottom right hand corner of the screen (above the big yellow Spin sign). The more you put in the more each bet is worth, and therefore the more you stand to pick up at the end when all is done and you’ve (hopefully) won. Simple as. Ready to roll? OK, hit the aforementioned Big Yellow Spin sign and like the puff of smoke that precedes a witch vanishing into thin air, we’re off.

    Black Magic

This is where things start to get interesting and the game mixes things up a bit for you, because on top of the standard cards there are a few more features that can really make a difference between you having a great time, and you having a poor time (pun quite obviously intended).

First up is the old favorite – the Wild. This comes in the form of a witch with auburn hair, wearing a purple hat. She can substitute for any other card to complete a winning combination of like cards, which is very useful and increases the chances of you walking away with something at the end of all your spins.

Then we also have the Scatter. She’s a beautiful witch with blue hat and electric blue hair. Land three of her for five free spins, four for eight, and five for 12. On the whole these aren’t the biggest numbers you’re likely to see but nevertheless it’s better than a kick in the teeth, not to mention losing all your money.

Finally, the top of the game screen shows a Winning Multiplier, which could also be quite easily called One Thing to Be Happy About. Put simply, this multiplier increases with every non-winning spin, adding more to your potential winnings if you do strike it rich, and softening the blow of not getting anything from a spin.

    Slots of Fun

Slot Bound is certainly a very good game. The graphics are clean and the theme is fun, the imagery really nice to look at and it’s very smooth in terms of the overall experience. Games with multipliers are always lots of fun, and the Wild and Scatters are great additions too, although pretty standard fare.

It might have been nice to see a Bonus game or round thrown in for good measure, but on the whole you don’t miss that too much. A fine effort all round, then.
