Magic Mike XXL Slot Machine
The 2012 film Magic Mike starring Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey about the life of a 19-year-old male stripper became a surprise hit, pleasing both audiences and critics alike. In 2015, a sequel, known as Magic Mike XXL brought many of the same characters (including Tatum’s) back to the screen in a film that may not have gotten quite the rave reviews of the first, but was still well-received by audiences who wanted more adventures in the world of scantily-clad male entertainers.
With such a popular following, this franchise was a perfect fit for the world of brick-and-mortar slots. That’s why Aristocrat created their Magic Mike XXL slot machine, a game that first appeared at the 2015 G2E expo. Featuring a graphical style that emulates the film’s high energy and comedic stylings – not to mention plenty of clips from the movie itself – this is a game that fans of the franchise are definitely going to want to check out.
An Extra Large Experience
Magic Mike XXL is a five-reel brick-and-mortar slot machine that features a larger than normal four symbol positions on each reel. This is not an all ways slot; instead, you’ll be trying to complete winning combinations, typically involving three or more identical symbols, across a series of active paylines.
What will you be matching? For starters, there are a lot of the symbols of the stripping world seen in these films: handcuffs, drinks, bowties, cash, and hats all popular the screen, awarding some nice prizes for long combinations. You’ll do even better by matching the infamous dancers themselves: Ken, Tito, Richie, and Tarzan are all available, with Magic Mike himself being the man to hit if you want to win the biggest rewards. All of these men are available in large stacked blocks that are big enough to cover an entire reel at once.
Speaking of stacks, you’ll also find stacked wilds across the reels. Nothing interesting about these icons – they are just a box that says “WILD” in them – but you’ll still be more than happy to find them, as they can help make winning combinations with any of the other normal icons in the game.
It’s Showtime
One of the cool things about this machine is that it comes with a series of fun bonus features, some of which can come at any time without warning. For instance, you’ll occasionally get to see a video clip of the dancers coming out on stage, announcing that for the next spin only, all dancers are wild – an advantage that can quickly lead to some amazing wins.
But there are two other special features that are triggered based on hitting the right scatters on the screen. First, there’s the Magic Mike Bonus; hit three of those symbols anywhere on the reels, and you’ll get to play in a special game where you get five picks at a 3x5 grid of boxes. Sometimes, revealing a box will get you an instant credits prize, while others will reveal one of the dancers. These will either add multipliers to your winnings, or provide you with more picks to unlock even greater rewards.
There is also a Showtime Bonus that can award you free spins. In this game, you’ll get eight or more free plays, during which all of the dancers are wild. It’s basically a supercharged version of the random added dancer wilds, and has the potential to very quickly make you a big winner.
Just Dance
This is a rare game that wonderfully captures the spirit of the brand it was based on while also delivering bigtime when it comes to making sure that there is plenty of varied and interesting content in the slot machine itself. Between the multiple special features and the random addition of wilds to the reels, there’s always fun right around the corner – just like in the movies themselves.
