It’s bound to be controversial given the Ted film is now the highest grossing R rated film of all time, and the films creator, Seth McFarlane was also responsible for the outrageous cartoon based adult shows Family Guy and American Dad. Whether you love or hate his work, it’s pretty hard to avoid the guy these days such is his success and the slot should have huge appeal as a result, the big question is whether it will be another hit to add to the collection.
Theme
Whilst the overall production of the Ted slot is pretty spectacular, I am a little disappointed with the number of the films characters which were included in the end game. Don’t get me wrong, Ted, John and the main cast are there, but many of the great supporting cast, with the exception of Sam J Jones turn as Flash Gordon, are absent, which is a little disappointing in a huge movie slot.
You get a sum total of ten win icons available on the slot, whilst it may not seem overly interesting from that perspective its offset by the number of game features. To give them their due, the developers have done a great job with the visuals, the icons, video sequences and sound bites used are all absolutely fantastic, it does help that the cheeky game theme lends itself to player enjoyment.
There isn’t any specific content recorded for the slot but, due to the films one line joke nature, there doesn’t really need to be, there’s an absolutely mammoth of amount of jokes which are included in the game and plenty of wordplay in the effects too with the ‘big a$$’ win sequence being one example of this.
Gameplay and Features
Whilst the base game layout of the Ted slot may not seem massively spectacular, being a simple penny slot in a 5x4 reel frame, it’s all about the bonuses and features on this slot with six available just in the base game in addition to instant jackpot prizes. These can be triggered at any time with the Ted jackpot symbol.
Where the game really comes alive is with three or more of the thunder buddy scatter icons, this activates the bonus wheel, now a familiar feature of Aristocrats Helix cabinet, which on this title offers a further eleven bonus feature options. Our favourite of these is the wish upon a star progressive pick bonus which is a level increasing choice win round and is made all the more exciting as it includes an award all pick.
Summary
The premise is solid and the game is well produced, fans of the film, and there are plenty will find this a very entertaining slot to play. It’s clearly been geared towards that market too as the variance is very low and the feature triggers are frequent which will please holiday players in the casino but leave the high rollers disappointed.
