A Walk in the Wilderness

Misty Forest takes place, as expected, in a forest. The title itself gives away basically the whole setting of the game.

As a background, we have a lush green scene with mist blurring the lines and hiding most of the details. The reels themselves are coloured in a deep shade of green, while leaving a lot of space for the symbols – which are much more detailed than the background.

The musical atmosphere is peaceful and calm, with a certain “Renaissance fair” vibe to it. It complements the natural settings of the game quite nicely, while being rather classic.

Setting Yourself up for Victory

As far as the gameplay goes, Misty Forest follows a classic pattern as well. The setup consists of five reels and 20 paylines maximum.

This leaves only a few settings to take care of manually for the player. You can start by setting the coin value with the appropriate red button below the reels, and use the switches right above it to decide how many coins to bet on how many paylines. Once you are satisfied with your choices, hit the blue Start button and watch the reels spin and cold coins (hopefully) flow.

Winning combinations consists of sequences of identical symbols lining up on an activated payline, paying from left to right. You will have the opportunity to play the optional Gamble game after each winning combination. Guess the colour of a hidden card to double your earnings, or guess the colour of its suit to quadruple them. Keep on playing as long as you dare, because your first mistake will terminate the mini game and take away your coins as well.

Lining up the Forest Dwellers

The paytable of Misty Forest consists of eight basic symbols representing the local fauna and the mysterious Celts.

We begin with the forest animals, a Wild Boar, a Fox, a Wolf and a Bear. All of them are quite realistic and full of details despite their static stance. They are followed by an Axe and a Hammer, both richly decorated with golden, intricate Celtic ornaments.

The last two basic symbols are a fierce, helmet-wearing and red-bearded Warrior and the beautiful princess of the realm. A winning combination of five Princesses will multiply your initial bet by 1,000.

Special Magic

But do not be mistaken: there are still a couple of symbols we need to examine in order to get the full picture – and to put all the chances on your side to win the jackpot!

The first one of them is the Magician symbol, which acts as the Wild card of the game. This means simply that the Magician can replace any basic symbol to form a winning combination on an activated payline. Keep in mind that our magic friend can only appear on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels.

Finally, the Celtic Seal card is our Scatter in Misty Forest. It triggers cash rewards regardless of alignment, and three or more Scatters anywhere on the reels start a Bonus round of 15 Free Spins! It’s Tree-Mendous at First

Misty Forest is a good example of a classic and solid video slot game. It has a specific universe, albeit rather unoriginal, special symbols, Free Spins and a Gamble option, which is a good start to attract beginner players.
