Guardian Lion Slots

The developers at GameArt are taking players on a unique and rewarding trip to Ancient China with Guardian Lion, hoping no doubt to follow up on the success of the Dancing Lions slot game.

This video slot game features plenty of elements of ancient Chinese culture and references to this great civilisation that managed to survive, evolve and adapt over millennia while retaining a unique culture, language and aesthetics. Adapting such a culture into a slot game is no easy task, but Guardian Lion is worth a moment of your time if you are looking for a new game to play.

Read our full review of the game to find out more about its universe and gameplay, and discover how you can make sure to maximise your winnings…

Enter the Game Universe

Guardian Lion is entirely based on traditional Chinese culture, and thus features very recognisable elements with which most players are already familiar.

The overall theme is red and gold, the colours of good fortune in China. The background resembles a massive door bolted with gold nails – perhaps the entrance door to the famous Forbidden City.

The semi-transparent reels are covered with beautifully designed symbols, most of them evoking artefacts from ancient China as well. The final result is beautiful to look at, a guarantee of total immersion into the gorgeous game universe of Guardian Lion.

Pushing the Door Open and Getting the Game Started

The actual gameplay of Guardian Lion is spread on a very classic setting which is standard amongst GameArt creations. If this is not your first slot game from this developer, you probably already know what to do.

For new players, the rules are simple. You have five spinning reels with three symbols on each at the end of your turn. The ten paylines available are fixed, which means that you have no choice but to bet on all of them at every turn. Winning combinations of symbols landing on these paylines trigger a cash prize, which is in turn added to your personal stash. Now in terms of customisation, you only task is to adjust your bet per line with the arrows at the bottom of the game screen. Once ready, just click the green Spin button right in the middle to start up the reels. If you are lucky, you will land one of more winning combinations of symbols. Your reward is determined by your bet size, so a bigger bet means larger potential wins in the future. Do not forget that you can play an optional gambling mini game after each win; guess the colour of a hidden card to double your reward as many times as you want. The game follows the double-or-nothing rule, since a wrong answer takes you back to the reels empty-handed.

You can also try out the Autoplay mode to let the reels spin on their own for a while, with your settings saved and applied consistently. The choice is yours, so do not hesitate to play around with the settings a little before getting the game started.

Golden Symbols of Power

The reels of Guardian Lion are covered with beautifully designed and mostly original symbols.

The first few icons have low payouts. They are inspired by playing cards and range from number 9 to the Ace. Those classic symbols appear on the reels frequently, to add more chances to land winning combinations with them.

Keep an eye out for the Ring, the Jade Seal, the Folding Fan and the Lionhead-shaped Door Knock. These icons are worth a lot of coins, and it is up to you to line them up on paylines to make those big rewards yours.

A Large Array of Bonuses

Guardian Lion is a generous game in terms of special features, as we will see in this section.

The Lion Statue is the most valuable symbol on the paytable, and it also acts as a Wild card. You can use it to replace any of the basic symbols mentioned before and still be winning.

The Cup symbol is a Scatter; three or more of them anywhere on the reels at the same time initiate a Bonus round of ten Free Spins with a x3 Multiplier on all wins.

The Pagoda is also a Scatter, and you will need three of them as well to start a Bonus game. Open the closed doors to score extra prizes until you reach the “collect winnings” sign.

A Generous Game for All Players

Guardian Lion might look classic and a little limited with its ten paylines, but do not let appearances fool you.

The very generous Bonus features of the game make all the difference, and you will be asking for more before you know it. Guardian Lion is truly an addictive experience set in a beautiful gaming environment which delivers both as a free slot and as a real money machine.
