    Treasures of Montezuma Slot Machine

Exploration of the Aztec culture and indigenous tribes is what awaits you when playing Treasures of Montezuma, a 5-reel slot machine from iGaming2Go, a brand known for its advancements in the industry.

From the off you can tell the tone of the game: it’s minimalist but with a thought out and well constructed theme. Furthermore, they’ve taken an approach of having no sound effects except for when the reels spin and a win is made; these sounds, in turn, let the realistic effect of the title down. This is because they’re very digital and modern sounding, it would have been nice to have more in-keeping and contextual music to accompany our experience.

The chief of the local region, or who we assume is, stands to the side of the grid, frozen in place, looking more like a statue in his rigidness rather than a person. This kind of visual setup is seen across the board when it comes to the brand’s games, though sometimes they’ll interact with players and others remain still, like here.

On a Quest for Gold and Success

You’re more likely to find partial success and gold with this activity, but we’ll chalk it down as a win in both departments and go from there. This slot machine doesn’t make finding those winlines easy, nor does it bring up rows upon rows of matching symbols, instead you spend much of your time losing cash rather than winning. Don’t be sad though, that’s the brutality of slot machines and the sting of the Treasures of Montezuma.

In among the regular symbols there are premium ones, tiles that will gift you rewards both in the form of feature games and with cash; in regards to the feature games, they come from the scatter logo. The engraved stone needs to pop up on any of the reels, but in groupings of three or more; no matter how many of them you find you’ll always get 18 free games. What is more, the scatter in Treasures of Montezuma actually pays you some coins, up to 50 of them.

While this is all well and good, it isn’t up to the standard of the wild symbol, a menacing looking totem of white, gold and red - when between three and five of them are found, your funds can be increased from 2 credits up to 1,000 (the most that can be won in the game). After that there are three more carvings that will bring in as much as 200 and as little as 1 credit between them. Once you get past these, you’re down to some disappointing payouts. They’re not any you’d opt out of, but you won’t be jetting off around the world with a win of €20.

    Feeling Lucky?

After every win, big or small, you have two buttons start flashing at you, with a rather annoying tune buzzing in your ear canals; there’s a choice to be made. Double your money or take what you’ve won. Clicking to double your prize will take you to a faced down card, with the answer red or black written next to it, all you need to do to successfully increase your cash is to guess correctly.

This double up mini game can last for several rounds, should you be so lucky, leaving you with considerably more coinage to spend.

    Currency of the Land

With iGaming2Go you have some very basic controls to adapt to, making them a user friendly and no nonsense brand. Take the betting system as an example, there’s only two buttons to press, plus or minus. The sum total of your bet can be between 1 and 50 credits, and that applies to all 5 of the fixed winlines.

The Auto Start is the autoplay, and will get your reels moving so you don’t have to go to the trouble; no stop button will appear, but click the widget again and the option will terminate itself.
