Space Botz is a casino slot set in outer space. The same rules apply to this five-reel slot in the cosmos as they do to casino games back here on Earth: namely, the aim is to win as much cash as possible in the shortest timeframe imaginable. Space Botz is one of relatively few space-themed slot games in the market. Given the limitlessness of space, it’s a tad surprising – but casino developers continually return to draw water from the well that is Ancient Egypt. Visuals
Though the game is actually accessed via the Microgaming platform, the design and gameplay showcased here is typical of Genesis, the small but reputable US-based software firm. The backstory, if you want to call it that, is that some badass mechanical beings have plundered Earth of its worldly possessions. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to find the botz and strip them of their ill-gotten gains. Sound simple? Well, it kinda is – and the inclusion of a free spins feature makes it even easier to gain retribution on those pesky thieving robots.
The 5x3 reel grid appears against a backdrop of the night sky. The Space Botz logo appears at the top of the reels, the ‘S’ transformed into a dollar sign, the ‘O’ resembling a mechanical bolt or screw. The game is laid out much like other five-reelers. Introducing the Space Botz
The symbols are divvied up as follows: there are six playing card icons, from 9 through to ace, and four Space Botz. The other two symbols are a wild and a scatter, the former in the shape of a green star with the word ‘WILD’ printed beneath it, the latter the game logo. The wild can substitute for all other symbols except the scatter to help you form pay wins. When one or more wilds substitutes in a win, only the highest win is paid. The wild is the game’s best paying symbol: 1,000 for five, 500 for four and 50 for three.
Though you might bemoan the inclusion of the ever-ubiquitous playing cards, they have been roboticized to fall in line with the overarching theme of the game. Even if only wagering one coin, you can win some nice amounts for combinations of playing cards. For example, you can bag 250 for five aces, 150 for five kings, queens or jacks and 100 for five 10s or 9s.
The Space Botz pay better. The characters include a Dalek esque robot, a spinning satellite, a flying robot who looks like the Iron Giant and another white drone with a red dot in the centre of his spherical head. The Iron Giant is linked with the best pay-outs: 500 for five, 250 for four and 25 for three.
Wild Botz Bonus
If you hit three or more Space Botz scatters, you’ll trigger the Wild Botz feature and win five free spins. Not only that, but all the robot symbols will turn wild. This can naturally result in a heap of additional wins. Triggering the Wild Botz feature is just about as good as it gets in Space Botz. While five free spins doesn’t sound like a lot, I’d rather have five free ones with multiple wild symbols than 15 spins with no extra incentive. And yes, the feature can be re-triggered, with a further five free spins awarded.
