My first impression of the Honeylock’s Pots slot machine is that it takes a fun approach to the Goldilocks and the Three Bears tale, with a pleasing cartoon style and animations to the various characters. It’s a whimsical style, with a suitably lightweight soundtrack, but anyone who likes fairytale themed games will enjoy this one.
High card symbols on cracked wooden blocks, a birdhouse, and Honeylocks herself can land on the grid, although I had to wait until features triggered before the bear family at the top of the reels make an appearance. It’s a desktop and mobile slot from the studios of Quickspin, a Swedish developer with a range of equally quirky games such as Big Bad Wolf in their range.
Gameplay, Bets, Features & Bonuses
Gameplay centers around matching symbols from the left of the five reels and four rows, over any of 30 paylines. Honey pots trigger one of three bonus features, but I found that others can then activate from within the round. Each feature is made up of respins, with jackpots, expanding reels, and extra cash collections up for grabs.
It’s a high volatility game with a return to players of 96.03%. Extra Bet and Bonus Buy option can raise the returns to as much as 96.73%, but I don’t agree with the idea that players should be encouraged to buy into features this way.
Features of the Honeylock’s Pots slot machine can trigger on any spin. Honeypot wild symbols act as others and expand at random, filling their reel to make a win more likely. I certainly enjoyed the fun animation as she skips across the reels, waving a magic honey spoon to trigger expansions, although it didn’t always lead to a win.

The bet range of 0.1 to 100 credits is good, and as mentioned, there are several side bet and bonus buy-ins available. Wins in the base games come from matched symbols crossing the 5x4 grid from the left, over any of the 30 paylines.
Honeylock’s Pots Slot Bonus Features
Honey-soaked club, diamond and heart symbols collect in Papa Bear’s Prizepot jar, Baby Bear’s Grabber, or Mama Bear’s Expander pots at the top of the grid. They trigger respective features at random, although in the base games, they act as blockers, getting in the way of winning symbols.
I managed the Prizepot feature after a relatively short time, winning 14.2x the stake, but didn’t unlock either of the others before the feature came to an end. Eventually I put up 85x the bet to get all three rounds working together.
Each bonus feature is made up of three respins where only coins, bonus symbols, or blanks land on a 4x5 grid with a further 3x4 section blocked off to the right. Coins hold random values of 0.2x, 0.4x, 0.6x, 0.8x, 1x, 2x, 4x, 25x the total bet and lock in place, resetting the spin counter back to three. Here’s what the bear family dish out from their respective pots of honey -
Prizepot Spins. If the Papa Bear lands on the grid, he moves a jackpot meter by one step. The 10x Mini, 30x Minor, 150x Major, and 2,500x Mega jackpots pay from two, four, six, and eight steps respectively.
Grabber. Any time Baby Bear appears during respins, he flies around the grid, collecting the values of all coins in view, but leaving them in place for further collections.
Expander. Mama Bear activates between two and five random spots on the locked part of the grid. She also awards a fourth and then a maximum of fifth life to the respins and any retriggers.

Why I Like It / Why It’s Different
There’s lots of enjoyable humor here, as Honeylocks and bears dance around, awarding their features.
I like the way extra respins rounds can trigger from within the feature, although this didn’t actually happen as I played. It could be difficult to get multiple features without buying into them.
It’s a fast-paced game with the excitement of high volatility.
The 2,500x maximum win is lower than many other slots offer.

I’m still not impressed by the way the highest returns are held back for anyone buying into features.
