For those out there that don’t like the feeling of fear, you needn’t worry about that being an issue, for the aesthetic here is very much PG; the animation is friendly looking, some might say. A male and female vampire stand on either side of the matrix, of which it has 5 reels and 10 winlines, while flashes of lightning illuminate the page at set intervals.
The graphics are basic in their creation, and yet they form an intertextual world in which to play; in some ways it reminds us of the animation seen in Disney’s Hercules. The detail wasn’t as sharp as other films gone before it, and yet it told a story so beautifully that it captured the hearts of hundreds of children. Here the hearts will be that of adults, but that’s the main focus of a vampire's diet anyway, though the younger the prey, the better.
Considering the lack of features in this slot, you surprisingly feel satisfied when playing it. Normally we’d be alarmed at such a basic paytable, especially given the newness of the game, but here it seems to work out well; you’ve not overpowered by the features, but nor are you underwhelmed. The decision to use just a scatter symbol feels just right.
The free games come from the cameo picture of the male vampire, who for this review we’ll call Drac (he does look like the prince of darkness after all, and no, we don’t mean Ozzy Osbourne).
You’ll get the same number of spins regardless of the amount of tiles you find, but the payouts that come along with the matches vary greatly. For a match of three you’ll get but 20 credits, while four will gift you 200, and the five a mouthwatering 2,000.
The gamble features of all MGA’s new games have more appeal than their old – instead of dull card games, you have a multiplier wheel, a means of dramatically upping your winnings. However, while potentially generous, you can just as easily land on an empty space upon the wheel and end the round altogether.
When the option presents itself, tap it and watch as the vampires turn into bats and fly towards the large wooden door of their home, where a wheel will then suddenly appear. Graphically speaking it’s mightily impressive. Gameplay wise though, the volatility here is even higher than in the rest of the game, and that’s saying something as it was at a medium-high level already.
If slot machines are your thing and playing as many as possible an obsession, a need, then Vampire Treasure couldn’t be any better for you. Simplistic though it is, it has all the markers of a well rounded and immersive game, even despite the lack of variance. We found it a delight to play, and would definitely recommend this to all types of players, not just those experienced with online slots.
This is one of the brand’s better titles, though for variety and excitement, nothing can beat Robin, a classically designed slot machine with many unexpected surprises.
