Day of the Dead Slots Machine

International Game Technology has released a set of slot machines with the innovative Multi-Way Xtra wager system. One such hit produced by the company is Day of the Dead slots. The slot game was first made available to online players early in May 2013 before it began featuring at several land-based casinos across the globe. Whilst the arrangement of reels in hexagonal fashion in addition to the 720 different ways through which players can bag winnings are in no means a revolutionary concept, the level of excellence in the graphics department of Day of the Dead slots is truly stunning.

Graphics, Animations and Audio

The Day of the Dead slots machine comes with reel artwork that combines Mexican motifs with the traditional casino cartoons, creating exciting and vibrant visuals. The symbols in this slot game include two different kinds of Mexican jamborees, and both burst into life when players land them in any winning combination, thus providing you with a short sequence of skeletal dancing before taking you back to the spinning reels. The theme of the game revolves around Halloween, or Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) as it is called in Mexico.

The audio effects in Day of the Dead slots are truly exceptional. The Mariarchi-style music plays constantly as you engage in the core game. The scene is set with colourful visuals and upbeat music as guitars and trumpets and the occasional burst of fill music promises a great experience at the casino.

The Multi-Way Xtra system designed by IGT is used in Day of the Dead slots. Owing to this feature, players not only receive awards for different combinations they hit, but also receive extra multipliers for each permutation of a specific combination hit on each spin. The Multi-Way Xtra wager system can be activated only when you make a set fifty coin bet.

Additional Reel Features

The Day of the Dead slot machine supplements the action within the game by using two attractive reel features. The special pile of wild icons can help players increase their winnings by opening up a bigger number of combinations in the core game. The presence of a scatter symbol means that players can win awards if they land three or more of these icons on any active payline.

The wild icon in this game is denoted by a coffin-shaped cookie. It can be used to substitute any other icon except the scatter. The scatter icons in Day of the Dead are denoted by a vibrant skull. If you land more than two scatters across your reels, you will be presented with a multiplier of up to 50x on your original bet.

Day of the Dead Slot Machine Bonus

The bonus feature in Day of the Dead slots can be activated when you land five bonus icons on subsequent reels. Each reel is required to have a bonus symbol. Players are awarded with eight free spins each time they hit a winning combination. Since the bonus round is filled with symbols that operate as stacked icons, it offers players to win a total of 96 free spins, making it one of the most rewarding & highest paying features out there. Players can also re-activate the bonus when playing the free spins bonus, thus giving them a chance of winning as many as 240 free spins.

With the quality of audio and visual effects along with the Multi-Way Xtra wager system, Day of the Dead has become a popular slots game among a variety of casino lovers. The opportunity to claim exciting prizes whilst having a fun-filled time makes it a great option for both high rollers as well as small-stake players.

About Day of the Dead

Dia de Muertos or Day of the Dead is a holiday in Mexico and many other parts of the world. The holiday is celebrated in honour of the people who are no more. Friends and families of expired individuals gather, remember their loved ones and pray for their souls on this day. The celebration runs for three days, starting on the 31st of October and ending on the 2nd of November, marking an association with the Christian triduum of Hollowmas.

Traditions that form part of the holiday include the use of marigolds, sugar skulls and the favourite beverages and foods of the deceased to honour them, building of ofrendas or private altars, and paying visits to the graves of the departed to leave their possessions. The holiday has become one of the most widely-celebrated ones across the globe. Churches in Brazil and Spain hold parades and festivals before gathering and heading to cemeteries to pray for the dead.

The Day of the Dead has different traditions across the world, but most cultures spend the holiday partying and remembering their deceased loved ones. One tradition common among people in various cultures includes the preparation of an array of food items. People also dress up in costumes, mostly resembling scary characters such as witches and skeletons.

Children are especially huge fans of Halloween because they are allowed to go trick-or-treat-ing. They dress up in costumes and portray themselves as beggars, pirates, ghouls, or anything they like. According to ancient Celtic folklore, ghosts would disguise themselves as humans and knock on people’s door, seeking food and/or drink. People who turned them down risked being haunted, so they usually provided the ghouls with whatever they sought.
