If we were to employ the politically correct definition of the term Dwarves, we’d also have to alter the spelling to its correct form: Dwarfs. The latter term refers to an individual of small or stunted stature, though the former – and the one to which this title lends its name, is associated with the creatures (also of a stunted stature) prevalent within various writings within world folklore – particularly British, Norse and Germanic.
As far as ties to an ancient and mysterious area of human culture go, this game pretty much draws the line here. Its five reels host a diverse array of dwarves, all dressed in moleskins of independently vibrant colours. These dwarves however, do not some entirely evocative of the ancient variety, instead packing much more a disney vibe!
As previously mentioned the Dwarves slot from SGS Universal packs a total of 5 reels, pretty standard stuff. What’s more, the game plays host to 20 paylines all of which are individually capable of producing some pretty astounding wins for a game that is so…vertically challenged.
Again though, this is all pretty basic stuff; especially when you take into account the fact that the game’s wild performs the exact same function as you’d encounter anywhere else in the known slots universe.
There is a bonus game to be found by placing the scatter Dwarves across your active lines, though the nature of this feature is far from overwhelming and even by the time you reach the bonus round, chances are you’ll have succumbed to a combined and foreboding sense of boredom/dread and moved on to another game.
To round things up, let’s lay all of our findings out on the table. First off, we have a theme that is far from originally, highly monotonous and complete overdone in the grand scheme of things. Secondly, this game possesses completely standard mechanics, to the point where it could be feasible to suggest the developers have simply placed new graphics on top of a tired old framework just for the sake of churning something new out.
Indeed, this is far from being the best work of the SGS Universal team. With a name which gives way (at least to this self-confessed nerd) to so much opportunity for something magical, this title kind of just falls flat on its face as something which is instantly forgettable.
