The Three Stooges II by RTG is an interesting game to say the least. For one thing, it’s a 3-reel slot, and yet there’s so much stuff going on all around the board that it can actually take you a moment to grasp that there are just 3 reels. Across the top you’ve got oversized buttons reading Balance, Bet and Win. Below them, more space is taken up in displaying the value of the game’s progressive jackpots, named the Minor, Major and Three Stooges jackpot. Then you’ve got the board in the centre of the screen, and either side of that there’s space for two bonus games called Larry’s Stash and Moe’s Moolah.
The Three Stooges II video slot doesn’t feel like an old school slot, despite the fact that it’s nursing just 3 reels and 3 paylines. RTG have certainly made full use of the screen size, leaving nothing out. Normally with these 3-reel slots you’ve got the paytable displayed alongside, but there simply isn’t room for that here. The Three Stooges II is a mobile-compatible game that works well on desktop as well as on Android and iPhone.
It seems only fitting that a game dedicated to The Three Stooges should have 3 paylines, 3 reels and 3 jackpots. When it comes to setting your bet, you’ve got just 2 options: you can wager 0.3 or you can wager 0.75 coins per spin. That’s it. There’s an autoplay option which can be adjusted as finely as you like. Click on it and an extremely detailed submenu will appear. The range of options here is almost too many to sift through.
Land 3x The Three Stooges II logos on a payline to win the game’s jackpot of 33x your bet. With just 1 of these symbols you’ll receive 3x and for 2 you’ll be awarded 9x. If you look up the paytable for this game, you’ll find that RTG have needlessly complicated things, conjuring a playing guide that’s every bit as complicated as the board itself. For all this game’s sins, at least it’s got a bunch of features for a 3-reel slot including Curly’s Cashola, which awards 9 free spins, and Larry’s Stash which utilises a prize ladder where there are as many as 20 free spins to be won.
The most astonishing thing about this game is that it was a sequel, presumably in response to public demand, and that it also seems to have had a sequel, The Three Stooges Disorder. Feel free to try that game plus the original The Three Stooges if you can handle that much banter in one sitting. The Three Stooges II is a medium variance slot with an RTP that ranges between 91% and 97%. If you’d like to try something similar, check out a game like Astro Magic by iSoftBet which has 9 paylines and medium volatility.
The Three Stooges II is quite a mouthful of a game and it proves to be just as overblown to play. This is a needlessly overcomplicated 3-reel slot, but despite these complications, coupled with the unimpressive graphics, there’s a surprising amount of bonuses built in. This is commendable, but everything else about this slot leaves a lot to be desired. If you’re curious about how much fun there is to be had from The Three Stooges II, then you should play for fun before you decide to play for real money. That way you’ll be able to get a feel for what this odd but strangely intriguing slot has to offer.
