Money Talks Slot

“Money talks” is probably one of the most oft-repeated expressions in the gambling lexicon. It’s a tenet of the gaming world, a pithy soundbite that perfectly cuts to the core of the world of casinos.

Designed by software developer Novomatic, Money Talks is an old-school 5-reel slot game that offers nine paylines and an enticing jackpot. While the game shares more than a few similarities with the Money Game slot, there are a couple of welcome surprises along the way.

If “money talks” is a motto that you hold dear, quickly plug your coins – real shiny ones or those of the virtual variety – into the game and get going.

Talkin’ Bout Money

Money Talks is a game that will be familiar to many hardened gamers. That’s not to say there aren’t a few tricks up its sleeve, though. As stated, the action plays out on five spinning reels, and the symbols are common too: as well as the usual playing cards (A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9), there is a gold coin, a gold dollar symbol, a money-banded roll of $100 bills, a brown leather satchel overflowing with loot, a jute sack with a green dollar sign printed on the front and a moustachioed man in a business suit. It’s unclear whether the latter character is a corporate raider, a lawyer or a prolific politico – but who cares, all you need to know is what role he plays in this game. And rest assured, it’s an important one.

For your information, the minimum bet is 1 so you can play this as a penny slot, while the maximum is 900. You can set your line bet along the bottom of the screen, where you can also choose to play one, three, five, seven or nine paylines. What’s more, there’s an Automatic Start button should you wish to relax while the reels do their thing.

Money Symbols

The shadowy moustachioed figure represents the wild in the game, and as such he can substitute for all symbols except the scatter. Use the wild to configure a winning combination and you’ll see the payout multiplied by a factor of two. What’s more, landing five executive images on a pay-line will yield the highest sum in the game: a whopping 9,000 credits.

Amusingly, the moustachioed man brandishes his cash and moves forward and backwards when involved in a win. The rest of the symbols involved in the pay-line, meanwhile, light up while a celebratory sound effect plays.

The gold dollar symbol is the game’s scatter symbol. Spot three of these and the bonus game will commence, furnishing you with 15 free reel spins. Spot four or five and you’ll get 20 or 30 free spins. Winnings earned during the bonus round are multiplied by a factor of three, meaning there’s a pretty penny to be won if your luck’s in.

Risky Business

A typical feature of Novomatic games is the gamble function. Essentially, winners are compelled to test their luck by playing double-or-nothing after a successful win. All you have to do is press the Gamble button when it lights up, then guess the colour of a card drawn randomly from the deck. If you guess right, you double your money; guess wrong and you lose the lot. If this sounds like a worthwhile feature, you’ll be gleefully rubbing your mittens at the prospect. However, you might consider the Gamble function to be an exploitative measure taken by the casino in an attempt to claw back some of the money they’ve lost. Either way, if you double up you can simply take your money back to the real game, cash out or risk your stake once more. If you choose to gamble again, the multiplier is 5x rather than 2x. I know what you’re thinking: damn, that’s tempting. You could go from $100 to $1,000 in a matter of seconds.

Personally, I’d be glad the gamble function is there but cautious about using it. Most gamblers, though, make their moves depending on how they feel at that particular moment. If you’re feeling invincible, nothing will stop you taking it to the limit in an attempt to bolster your bank-roll, if you are playing this as a free slot there is no hard cash risk either.

All About The Money

There’s no getting away from it: Money Talks is all about money. Behold the overflowing bag of loot, the shiny gold doubloons and the flashing dollar signs. This is also a simple game, both in terms of sound effects and animation. While it might be fun for a while, it’s probably unlikely to hold your interest for long. If it does you can find a variety of casinos who stock Novomatic games in our review section.
