First of all, Atlantis takes place under water. Deep under the surface, the players will discover a peaceful and uncanny universe within this underwater style theme.

The background of the game is light and covered in pastel tones. Besides the beautiful blue of the sea, corals and seaweeds bring different shades of pink, green and purple in the picture. The overall feeling is peaceful and relaxing.

One you have made the dive all the way to the seabed, it is time to learn a little more about the commands of the game and on how to customize your stay in Atlantis.

Atlantis is played on a simple 5 reel 9 payline set, which might be less than what you are used to. You can still use the (+) and (-) buttons located at the bottom of the screen to modify your wager, that is to say the amount of your bet and the number of paylines you wish to activate. Given the settings of Atlantis, you might expect to see a lot of fish and other aquatic animals during your game. And you would be correct to assume so.

There are ten basic symbols on the paytable, and all of them are right at home in Atlantis. You will find a Jellyfish, a Lobster, a Seahorse, a bright yellow Fish, a Dolphin, a Mermaid, a beautiful Lionfish, an Octopus, yet another beautiful Tropical Fish, and a Starfish. That last creature is worth up to 10,000 times your original bet for a five-of-a-kind combination on an activated payline.

All these creatures are drawn with quite a bit of details to make them look as realistic as possible, and the result is rather convincing. On top of these ten basic symbols, there are a couple more icons that deserve our attention.

You will find two more symbols on the reels of Atlantis, and both of them bring a little extra to the game.

The first one of them is a mighty White Shark, showing a powerful set of teeth. It acts as the Wild card in Atlantis, able to replace any of the basic symbols listed previously. By doing so, so line pay-out is automatically multiplied by two.

The final symbol is Neptune, god of the seas, wielding a trident. This Scatter symbol triggers rewards regardless of its position on the reels and awards multipliers; up to x32!

Atlantis is full of possibilities for beginners and veteran players equally, with a flexible enough gameplay that allows for a lot of freedom of customisation.

This being said, the light colour theme and somewhat naïve choice of reel symbols might appear as a bit of a let-down for those players who expected a glimpse into the formidable civilisation of Atlantis and it lacks the pizazz of some other underwater titles such as Mermaids Millions.
