The Justice Machine Slots

Superhero-themed slot games have been a hit with players for years. Playtech's popular Marvel Jackpots slots like Iron Man 2 may have bitten the dust but there are plenty of pretenders waiting to take their space.

Stepping up to the plate this time is leading slot developer, 1X2 Gaming. Their new The Justice Machine video slot looks the real deal. It features 30 fixed paylines, individual activated reels, and more bonuses than you can shake a laser beam at.

While DC Comics already have a range of slots based on The Justice League, can The Justice Machine muscle in on the action? Let's slip on the spandex jumpsuit and take a closer look.

Suit Up for 30 Super Powered Paylines

British online casino developer, 1X2 Gaming, have been producing games for Flash and HTML5 browsers since the early 2000s. And while the Brit outfit are better known for classic fruit machine style games and fixed odds titles, they also have a generous range of online slots in their arsenal.

Recent games like horror-themed Dracula's Blood Bank and the fun Fruity 3x3 have been designed for mobile-optimized platforms. Simplicity is the name of the game when it comes to 1X2 Gaming titles. And The Justice Machine is no different.

The 5-reel slot is played on a standard set of three rows, and the gameplay can be described as fun and frantic. An up-to-date web browser will be needed to access the free Justice Machine slot machine. The game is optimized for Google Chrome or Firefox.

With 30 fixed paylines in the game, you'll need to be careful with your coin selection before playing. Coins begin at just 0.01, but the max bet of 60.00 means the bigger slot gamblers are well catered for. Like all heroic internet slots around these days, The Justice Machine lets you set up an Autoplay feature. Program your spins until you hit any win, trigger a bonus feature, or lose a certain amount of real cash.

Join the Challenger, Demon Warrior, and Sector Trooper

You can't go a month it seems without running into a new comic book film on the big screen. Whether it's overkill or just the trend right now, but superheroes are back in a big, big way.

Yet to hit the cinemas but already popular with graphic novel geeks, The Justice Machine comics have been produced since the early 1980s.

The Justice Machine comics by Michael Gustovich tell the tale of a band of elite kick-ass enforcers from a parallel universe. They arrive on Earth in search of a wanted intergalactic criminal and on the lookout for general mayhem and destruction.

Like all good superhero teams, The Justice Machine features a range of male and female characters, all with their own unique powers. Challenger is the leader, a Captain America type with amazing strength, while Demon is a highly trained martial artist. Chain has psychic abilities and Titan is able to mutate into a 30-foot giant.

Trigger Titan Wilds for Expanding Wins

Even if you aren't familiar with this niche comic, there are plenty of good game features to enjoy in The Justice Machine online slot.

The heroes earn you the low limit prizes, starting with the Sector Trooper who pays 2 to 40x your line bet for three to five of a kind. The Drone pays 3-50x and Megabot dishes out some justice along with prizes worth 5-80x the line bet. Slightly better on the pay table scale is Demon Warrior (8-150x), the team's jet (10-300x), and the Justice Machine logo (20-500x for three to five of a kind).

Talisman and Blazer kick off the top limit icons, awarding 25-600x and 30-800x respectively. Chain pays a respectable 40-1000x, while Demon pays the jackpot of 50-1250x. Look out too for Titan. He acts as the game's wild and will substitute for all regular symbols in the game.

Look Out for Special Powers and Win Big

While the regular payouts in The Justice Machine are good, they can be really good if a reel activates. At the bottom of each reel is an unlit 'Activate' sign. This can light up at random and give the reel special powers.

If any superhero appears on that Power Activated reel, his or her unique bonus will trigger. Talisman will reward the player with a random cash bonus prize, while Blazer destroys enemy symbols. They turn into fireballs and deposit cash into your bankroll. Chain uses lightning bolts to kill her enemies and create cash payouts, while Demon will award you with a free respin.

Titan will act wild as usual but if he is activated he expands to fill the whole reel. Naturally, a character with natural expanding abilities just had to have this feature attached. If you are a fan of gambling slots with expanding wilds, this is certainly the game for you.

Trigger Free Spins or Save the Earth for Giant Wins

If you are a fan of more familiar bonus rounds, you'll want to keep an eye out for the Challenger. If the mighty Challenger lands on an activated reel, his power will trigger 10 free spins. That's easier said than done, however, and we found the variance in triggering these bonus games to be huge.

Older Playtech Marvel slots like The Incredible Hulk used to feature fun bonus rounds where baddies were beaten up, and vehicles and planes demolished in order to win real cash.

The Justice Machine follows a similar pattern. If you land the Diviner hero on an activated reel, she will trigger the Justice Bonus Round. First, pick a hero to make the next attack against the evil bad guys. For each hero you choose, a different prize multiplier will be applied to your stake. Any winnings go into the bankroll until the feature ends.

Indulge Your Hero Fantasies with These Alternatives

While Marvel's superhero-inspired Jackpot slots are a thing of the past, Playtech have cleverly kept things going with a range of Age of the Gods games. All games in the range come packed with bonuses and provide a good alternative to The Justice Machine.

Our pick of the bunch is Age of the Gods: Furious 4. The game uses virtually all of the features of the earlier The Fantastic Four online slot (but with completely new graphics) to create a new gaming experience.

The "superheroes" here are Greek gods who will trigger various bonuses when they land on specific reels. If Apollo covers a whole third reel, for example, players earn extra free spins. Age of the Gods: Furious 4 also forms part of a range of slots from Playtech that features four progressive jackpots.

Suit Up for a Heroic Slot Adventure

The Justice Machine is certainly a high volatility slot. In reality, you are left waiting a long time for a reel to activate, and even then there is no guarantee that a bonus symbol will be sitting on it.

The Justice Bonus feature did trigger for us but it was a bit of a missed opportunity. The animation in the feature, as our superheroes shoot out lasers, gas and smoke to kill the baddies, is pretty poor.

However, the multipliers ended up being pretty good - around 20-30x on our bet level. When it comes to new online slots, it's nice to see a fresh superhero-themed game being released.

With Marvel's online slots now a thing of the past, it's good to see another franchise being applied to the gambling world. The Justice Machine might actually give the likes of Amaya's DC Comics titles a run for their money. We might keep our bankroll for the tried-and-trusted The Dark Knight Rises from Microgaming, however. It's a volatile beast but the progressive jackpot isn't to be sniffed at.
