    Gangland Slots

Being in a gang is normally deemed as uncool these days, the news and public opinion helping to fuel fear whenever a new one forms. However, many years ago gangs were the epitome of cool, with the members seen more like family than friends; crime was definitely high, but nobody messed with them.

Nobody is saying that that’s how it should be these days, but if you want to relive the good times without having to rough it out with the wrong crowd, you can sample the mobster lifestyle in Gangland from Tom Horn.

They’ve gone with a film noir undertone, but have injected it with endless colour to make it stand out, a unique design choice that makes it as quirky as the gameplay it offers.

    Getting the Gang Together

Before you can be big cheeses again, you need to establish your brand, the name that makes everyone quake in fear when you walk into a room. The likes of which you’ve seen on the television.

Your new digs could be in any city, the background generic but no less pleasing: the soft yellow of the street lights, the hum of people going about their lives, the swankiest bar in town pumping out sweet jazz tunes… It’s perfect for you.

The network isn’t big to begin with, with only 5 reels and a further 25 winlines to play about with whilst you set-up, but that gives you plenty if not lots of room to manoeuver. For the right price you could be walking away with a cool 10,000 every single night.

    Welcome the Boss

The paytable has a lot of tiles for us to cover, each of them worth a small portion of credits, but all of them pale in comparison to the Capture the City symbol. Before you start telling yourself that this bonus will be as dull as a lot of the others online, you’re dead wrong - it’s filled with many twists and turns, more than the best noirs in the business.

Let’s go ahead and assume you’ve got the three or more matches that you need; once this is completed, a map of the city will appear before you, areas of it colour coded. As there are three bosses, there are three different colours spread out across the city’s entirety. Your job? To successfully attack and takeover new territory.

If you capture a new section the colour will be changed to match your own, the rewards following close behind, but if you lose you’ll lose one of the limited number of chances you have. Lose too many and you forfeit the whole bonus.

    A Moonlit Night

So far we’ve told you a lot about the gameplay but nothing in how you play, and so we’ll take a closer look at the control panel now. It’s much the same as other Tom Horn games, with every widget recognisable to the loyal gamer. Even if they’ve never played with the brand before, the controls are easy to adapt to.

It’s normal for these games to have a small betting range, and nothing has changed in Gangland as players are offered between 0.05 and 1 credit; set these by using the associated buttons. Next to the wager settings are the winline ones, the option being to reduce the number to one more manageable one than 25.

The last part of the whole process that you’ll probably be most interested in is the autoplay, for it takes the effort out of gaming and makes it a lot more relaxing. Here the reels start straight away, without any options for you to tweak.

    Impressive Gang

Gangland is an impressive job well done by Tom Horn Gaming. They’ve included a lot of familiarity to make regulars feel comfortable, but introduced enough change to mix it up. Slot machines are renowned for becoming repetitive, but this one has to be played a lot before you start to see its shine dull.

The crowning jewel of the whole title is the bonus game as it’s just so original; it fits the theme of the activity, and it gets you more involved in the gangland persona Tom Horn has painstakingly created. For us, we wouldn’t change a single thing, and that is probably the highest praise a slot can receive in this busy market.
