The Setup

The format of the game is most important to discuss, as it’s part of what makes it such a postmodern experience. The 5-reels look like a fruit machine, even the symbols mimic this, and yet you have as many as 20 winlines, thus allowing for a greater range of movement. When playing outdated fruit machines you can feel boxed in, but you don’t get that feeling here, at least not with the gameplay. The graphics, well they’re a different matter.

There are 12 symbols in total, with 10 of them enhanced by the appearance of the substitute, aka the wild. It takes on the form of a cocktail shaker, and is used to double your payouts, meaning that 1,000 credits could soon become a bigger 2,000 win. That’s pretty much all there is to it, save for the free games round, which happen to be a classic feature of the RTG brand.

A Stack of Coins

The coin icon of the paytable is the scatter icon of Dirty Martini, and is your means of accessing a total of 15 free spins. We could stop right there and you’d know more than enough to get started, but we’re nothing if not thorough, which is why we’re breaking down the feature for you.

No matter how you slice this title, this feature is a boring one, and not even the multiplied wins can change that. However, if we remove the context of the brand and just appreciate this slot as a fruit machine, the value of the bonus increases. Fruit machines are typically low variance slots, most of the time offering no features at all, and so to find one here is a strength of the game.

Blast from the Past

To show you what we mean when we say no features, we’re going to show you an alternative fruit machine to this one, called Simply Wild. Created by Stake Logic, it’s a two-grid game that has up to 10-reels rolling at a time, which sounds very fancy and more interesting than what you get here. But that’s where the excitement ends – once you’ve seen both grids roll you have nothing left to explore. We’re not meaning to tear the game down, as it’s actually a good way of introducing yourself to more vintage slot machines, ones that led to the creation of Dirty Martini. But we’re trying to highlight how special Dirty Martini actually is in the grand scheme of things.

Cheap Drinks

In terms of paying for your drinks from the RTG bar, you need only a couple of pence to begin; the brand is nothing but budget friendly. The starting point is just 0.01 per winline, and as there’s 20 in all, you end up with a 0.20 credit. This amount can then be increased via the upward arrow, all the way to 5 credits per winline, with transforms into 100 coins. We often remark on the user-friendly nature of this brand, mainly because so many other labels, like Merkur and Novomatic, can be rather steep in what they charge. However, brands such as those also tend to link their range to the paytable, which RTG doesn’t, and so you truly get what you pay for.

Feeling Dirty

Dirty Martini is a fruit machine themed slot machine that doesn’t have much going for it, at least not if you place it against modern titles like 7 Lucky Dwarfs from Leander. The reason being is because those type of activities tend to rely on their looks alone, rather than slowly introducing some limited but enjoyable variance. We want to champion Dirty Martini, but at the same time we know that it’s nothing more than a popular gap filler.
