Tomahawk Artwork

The 5 reels all have different symbols and pictures on them. These come in various forms, and the object of the game is matching up two, three, four or five of the same kind along active pay lines. Already this is different to most slot machines, which only payout for matching three and above.

The pictures range from warriors and horses to eagles, totem poles and teepees, everything looks pretty polished and is certainly a well drawn theme, light years ahead of some offerings that still think pixelated, and grainy images are acceptable. There are also letters – the lowest value stuff to match – although there’s not much to talk about there.

Ready the Braves

Shaman’s Luck might look great, and we’ll tell you now it plays fantastically, but it’s a little bit less smooth when it comes to getting your head around it. Like most gamblers you have the option of increasing the size of your bet by adding more to the Coin Size, and you can also introduce more active pay lines – up to 20 – increasing the chances of you winning. Sadly, though, there’s a bit of a catch.

Namely that you have to click on a symbol on the right hand side to bring up any of those options, and when you do a box out is triggered that does not show you which pay lines are being added – instead, it just displays the current number of active pay lines. On the whole this doesn’t really make much difference to the experience, although it does give a sense of things being less transparent, which for some might be off-putting.

The almost-complete absence of any words on the screen at all is really quite notable in fact, and whilst this obviously ensures universal international appeal, it’s a bit difficult to navigate at first. You wind up adopting a very try and fail and then try something else approach, which isn’t exactly ideal.

Deep in the Jungle

Those complaints aside the game is really good once you actually hit spin – which, if you’re wondering, is the big circular button on the controls on the right hand side of the screen.

Shaman’s Luck runs really smoothly, has some lovely little animation touches, and definitely feels like something you could keep coming back to. Especially when you take into account the Wild and Scatter icons – respectively capable of substituting for any other symbol other than Scatter to complete a combination, and offering you free spins and therefore free chances of winning money.

There is also a Gamble Feature which can be activated once you start winning. In effect this allows you to play guess the card suit, betting your winnings up to £500 for a chance of doubling or even quadrupling your overall pot. That’s sounds pretty good from where we’re sitting.

Shaman Have a Go

Although it can be slightly confusing at first, once you get to grips with Shaman’s Luck’s layout and presentation you’ll soon find that actually it explains things far better than many rivals, making this a great game for beginners.

Meanwhile, experts will also love some of the features, especially the Gamble option which makes the whole thing feel a little bit more like a full online Casino, with many games on offer, giving you more than one thing to think about and therefore making sure you won’t get bored very easily.

You could probably quite happily stare at the pictures for a good while anyway, such is the quality of the artwork, and as such it should go without saying that we wholly recommend this gambler to anyone who enjoys online gamblers. Enough said, time to get back to the game as there’s a totem pole that needs a partner, or two, or three... or four.
