When the reels finally come to a halt, you’ll be greeted by a selection of farmyard creatures and bucolic paraphernalia. There are straw bales, a puppy, a kitten, a Highland cow, a sheep and a golden bonus egg. The coin value can be set at anywhere from 0.01 to 1.00, the number of coins between 1 and 3 and the number of win lines between 1 and 20. With everything cranked up to max, the bet per spin will be a cool £60. In reality, you’ll be setting it to a more manageable level, one that won’t drain your balance in 2 spins.

The dashboard also features a Bet Max button, which ramps up the number of coins and lines, but not the coin value which you’ll still need to set manually. Next to Bet Max is an Auto Spin option which can be set to 5, 10, 20, 25 or 50 spins.

While the sound effects aren’t bad, they could accompany any video slot. If you’re expecting to be greeted by a convincing chorus of moos, baas and oinks, you’ve come to the wrong farmyard. In demo play, Farm Run takes a few seconds to load the reels whenever you hit Spin. It’s a little disconcerting, but this doesn’t seem to trouble Auto Spin thankfully.

Farm Run’s bonus feature calls for landing 3 of the coveted golden eggs anywhere on an active pay line. Achieve that and you’ll be taken through to the feature game where you’re presented with a selection of golden eggs. Choose 3 and their values will be revealed and totted up to reveal your prize.

Aside from the golden egg bonus, the other major symbols in Farm Run are scatter and wild. Wild will substitute for any of the other playing symbols except for scatter and bonus. It comes in the form of a black and white cow with Wild printed on its side. Wild will also apply a hefty multiplier to your win. With 2 wild symbols, this is a multiplier of 10, rising to 200 for 3 wilds, 2,500 for 4 and a hefty 10,000 for 5.

The scatter symbol, meanwhile, is played by the pig, which has Scatter printed on its side to avoid ambiguity. 3 or more scatters anywhere in view will secure you 15 free spins.

The hierarchy for the remaining game symbols starts with the chickens, 5 of which are worth 100, before rising to 125 for kittens. 5 puppies or straw bales are worth 150 for 5, sheep are 300, and Highland cows and bulls are 1,000.

Farm Run isn’t the most imaginative game you’ll ever play, but it’s easy on the eye and the farmyard characters are too darn cute to take a disliking to. Sound effects are adequate if generic, graphics are good and animations are extremely fast.

It might not be the best in class, but Farm Run is better than a lot of the farmyard-themed slots you’ll play.
