    Small Soldiers Slot Machine

The war theme has been overdone a lot in the gaming community, and as such there’s little in the way of what can surprise us, and yet Small Soldiers manages to do so from the off. This is because software company, Saucify, have given their 5-reel slot machine an adorable toy like edge, therefore making it less of a painful reality and more fun.

There is no dank and blood covered terrain here, only tiny soldiers and commanders doing their duty to save their country, and all whilst looking as cute as a button. It would be patronising if they looked human, but luckily for us they don’t.

Another standout feature is that it focuses on modern warfare and not ‘vintage’, meaning you get to play around with a lot of fancy equipment, all of which will get your clutching hands ever closer to the jackpot. Not that the enemy is going to just give it up for one second, oh no, you’re going to have to work your little socks off.

    Toybox Battleground

If we’ve come to expect anything from this brand it’s that they will give you a lot of features to enjoy should your luck last that far - this may be in the way of bonus rounds or just a selection of differing free spins. But whatever the case, Saucify do it well.

As with any army, you have artillery, medics, pilots and officers to direct and ebb the flow of war, and here is no different, cuteness or not. What is different is how rewarding each of those positions can be – yes, all job roles have contrasting incomes, but here you get a lot more than money.

The lowest paying tile during the game is the J/bottle, for it will reward you between 10 and 20 credits depending on how many you find on your reels. At the other end of the scale we have the officer/wild who gifts you 6,000! As for the artillery and pilots, while they don’t give you as much buck they sure give you a lot of bang; they’re both scatters, but they’re not the same. The pilot is your classic scatter styling and will award you a specific number of free spins, with the limit being 12 and a x4 multiplier in this instance, whereas artillery starts the mini level.

In this round you will have to take aim and fire to get yourself rewards, and at the end of each level you will be given a rank in regards to your level of skill. Not only does this feel a lot more authentic, but the rank will change over time if you improve.

    Sacrifice

In wartime there is always sacrifice, but here you offer up your wallet as opposed to your mind, body and soul, which is a lot less risky in the grand scheme of things.

Firstly, let’s look at setting the paylines for you as there are 40 in total, which can feel like too high an amount for a lot of gamers. Players will see a big red button to one side of the grid, here is where you can reset your paylines total and work your way up to a comfortable amount. You can do it the more boring way (from the control panel) if you so wish, but you might as well opt for the more in-keeping mechanism.

Customers now need to figure out how much they want their coins to be worth – between 0.01 and 0.25 per 1, and then how many of those coins they would like to play with. The amount maxes out at 5. After all that fiddling about, you can go ahead and spin the reels. Should you want to leave it up to the software to do the work for you, click the Autoplay tab and select how many rounds you want to play in one go.

    Small but Mighty

Small Soldiers is better than we had anticipated, which immediately put us in a good mood; they’ve managed to breathe new life into a very tired theme, and have done so with such novelty.
