Interestingly, despite only featuring a total of 5 fixed paylines, Frog King actually pays out small prizes with greater regularity than most other Kajot titles. This is down to the fact that you only need to match two of the game’s unique symbols on a payline to at least return your starting stake.

As ever, players are able to wager between 10 and 1,000 coins per spin, with a maximum regular jackpot of 1,000x your stake available if you match five wizard symbols. Five princess symbols, meanwhile, will award 200x your stake, with five crowns the next best thing with a return of 100x.

Prizes naturally tail off dramatically when it comes to the game’s regular ten-through-ace playing card symbols, but scatter symbols are also present to offer players an extra shot at winning. Be warned, however, that these scatter symbols are somewhat misleading in that you have to land them on adjacent reels to get paid – essentially meaning they’re not really true scatter icons at all!

As mentioned above, Kajot have really made an effort with the design of Frog King and the game itself looks stunning. The reels and background look like something directly out of a Disney movie, while each symbol features its own unique winning animation to really bring the game to life.

Additionally, every spin of the reels and subsequent win is greeted with a small piece of music, adding to the game’s enchanting atmosphere and making it a more immersive experience all-round.

Funnily enough, Frog King’s greatest strength is also its biggest weakness, as the additional animations coupled with the frequency of payouts actually serve to slow the game down quite a lot. Indeed, with the game pausing whenever two higher value symbols are matched, you are often left wishing there was some way to skip all the fancy moving graphics and just get on with the game.

Graphics and design aside, the main unique selling point of Frog King is the slot’s bonus feature, which awards players ten free spins whenever three or more golden orb scatter symbols are matched. As mentioned above, we take some issue with Kajot describing these symbols as true “scatters”, but should you collect free or more on adjacent reels the bonus is at least worth the wait.

Once triggered, the free spins game starts automatically and enables players to chain together some pretty tidy bonus wins. An additional feature during the bonus round also awards a mystery prize whenever the game’s titular hero, the Frog King, appears anywhere on the reels. Whenever this happens, he’ll throw a golden orb in the air and players will have a chance at winning bonus money.

Beyond that main feature, the other bonuses in Frog King are limited to the presence of wilds – which can be substituted for any other symbol save for the scatter – and a red or black pick game, which gives players the chance to double their winnings each turn and rack up some huge prizes.

Sadly, in spite of the huge amount of design work that has gone into Frog King, the game doesn’t feel like much of an improvement on some of Kajot’s more basic titles such as the Speed Club slot. Sure, it looks and sounds great, but the addition of animations and winning ditties only serves to slow the game down, reducing its overall playability. As a result, Frog King is definitely worth taking a look at just to see what the team at Kajot are capable of, but it probably won’t hold the attention of hardcore players.
