Festival Rules

The rules of Gucha Trumpet are very similar to those associated with other 5-reel games. At the outset, you must choose how much you want to bet per payline by adjusting the figures in Settings. Thereafter, tweak the bet-per-line figures – they stretch from 0.3 to 3 per line – and set the Autoplay number, should you wish to use it. You can also set the reels to spin continually from 10 to 100 times.

The look of the Settings page itself is quite fun. Rather than add or subtract icons, there are glass bottles with + or - stamped on the label. The bottles are arrayed on shelves in what looks like a wooden hut. In the background, we can see the heads of trumpeters through the sash windows.

On the bottom shelf, there are oval buttons to regulate Music, Quickspin and SFX. The soundtrack, we should say, is entirely trumpet-based – and the tune the trumpets are playing isn’t very inspiring! In fact, it sounds almost like the kind of elegy that would accompany a funeral march. Anyway, you can hit the Music button to mute the racket.

Spinning the Reels

After setting your bet, hit Spin to put the reels in motion. The button is located along the bottom of the screen, alongside Gamble, Max Bet and Autoplay. When the reels spin, a Slavic female in a purple dress in the lower corner performs a little dance. A young guy in a blue T-shirt, meanwhile, emerges from between the Autoplay and Max Bet buttons and takes a ginormous swig of beer.

The goal of Gucha Trumpet, of course, is to find matching combinations on the board. At maximum bet, this can lead to some very nice pay-outs, as I’ll outline. First, a word on the symbols. The icons in Gucha Trumpet relate mostly to the festival. There are two character symbols, both playing brass instruments. Each is wearing a traditional outfit and hat, though only one has a moustache. There’s also a spit-roasted hog, a glass bottle alongside two smaller bottles, a drum and the usual playing card symbols, which go from 9 to ace.

The moustachioed musician is the wild: he can substitute for all symbols except the scatter to help you form wins. He also pays 9,000 credits for five in a line. It’s 900 for four, and 90 for three.

The other musician is the scatter. If you find three or more, anywhere on the reels, you’ll trigger a round of free spins. The scatter is also the highest-paying symbol in Gucha Trumpet, as it pays 13,500 for five in a line. You can win 1,350 for four and 450 for three.

The next best paying symbol is the glass bottle, followed by the hog, the drum and the playing cards.

Expanding Free Spins

Before your free spins begin, hit stop to designate which symbol will be the expanding symbol for the round. The expanding symbol can’t be the wild or scatter, though. After each spin, regular winnings are counted. Then, if the expanding symbol appears three or more times, it will expand vertically to cover the entire reel; winnings are re-counted along all active paylines.

The Verdict

Gucha Trumpet is a solid offering from Booming Games. The graphics are top-notch, the gameplay is fun and the pay-outs are respectable. There’s also a Double or Nothing gamble round, which can be played up to ten times in a row. Give it a go as a real money slot if you’re feeling lucky.
