Unlike western interpretations, Chinese dragons are symbols of luck and prosperity, which is why they make so many appearances in games like the Dragon Orb video slot. In early promotional videos for this machine, we haven’t seen much of the dragon itself – other than its claw, which grips the titular glowing orbs – but the Chinese theming is clear. Everything from the music to the fonts and the night scenery behind the reels evokes a setting in China, giving the machine a lot of flavor.
We don’t yet have much information on the betting range available on this machine, though we do know that RTG generally makes their games accessible to low limit gamblers. What we do know for sure is that this slot will use the same mobile-optimized software as other RTG titles, making it completely compatible with a variety of mobile devices and operating systems. There should also be a play for free options available for players who want to test things out before putting down any real cash on this machine.
The Dragon Orb video slot is a five-reel game with 10 paylines. It appears as though players will win in the traditional left-to-right manner across their active lines. We don’t have a complete pay table or list of symbols available, but from promotional materials, we can say for sure that you’ll see a lot of the traditional icons you’re used to in other Chinese-themed games. Those include statues of legendary creatures, temples, flowers, scrolls, and much more. We’re told that the high-paying symbols can award up to 250x your line bet, leading to some very attractive payouts.
Of course, any good modern online slot will have some special features, and this one is no exception. The most important symbols are the dragon orbs themselves, which serve as wild symbols. They only appear on the center three reels, but if you land one, you’ll get a lot of help out of it. Not only will it expand to cover the entire reel, but you’ll also get a free re-spin with your sticky wild reel locked into place. Hit another orb, and you can lock in another reel and get yet another re-spin!
If you’re looking for some big payouts, there’s also the potential to win a couple of progressive jackpots on this machine. These are randomly awarded, and as in other RTG games, they come in two varieties: Major and Minor. While these local jackpots never get extraordinarily large, they can still provide a nice boost to your bankroll when and if you manage to trigger them.
While there’s still quite a bit we don’t know about this machine yet, we’re excited to get the chance to play Dragon Orb. The fact that there are only 10 paylines doesn’t compare particularly well to most modern machines, but we’re not too worried about that: the wild re-spins feature should provide enough action for just about any player. With an interesting theme and some solid gameplay mechanics, this could be a release with a lot of buzz, and we’ll be sure to provide a complete review once the machine is available for play.
