Dragon’s Law Slots

With golden dragons surrounding the reels and symbols of lucky pigs, coins and turtles paying out some of the top wins, it can only mean one thing. We are looking at another Asian-influenced slot machine. Dragon’s Law is a video slot from Konami that joins this crowded market, hoping to stand out with a couple of interesting features. It’ll have to work hard to grab the attention of online casino players though, as there’s a vast array of similar games out there.

So, how have Konami made it different from other slots? The five-reel, 30-payline format is pretty standard, and the playing card symbols, plus well-used icons of good fortune are nothing new either. But don’t dismiss it just yet, as Action Stacked Symbols that fill entire reels, and special twinned wild and scatter symbols can lead to lots more extra payouts. It also comes with free spins where a unique Dragon’s Law feature is in effect more frequently. Rich greens, reds and golds and pin-sharp graphics help it to stand out as well.

Konami is based in Japan and Las Vegas, from where they have developed and released a huge number of slots over the years. Originally founded in 1969, they have diversified and embraced new technologies. They now have a great selection of online and mobile optimised games available, each of which comes with their own special features. Fully licensed and certified for fair play, spinners can be sure that even when a similar theme and style has been seen before, a Konami slot machine will always offer something unique.

Colourful Symbols

The pleasing design includes details such as patterned reel backgrounds and surroundings to the main game that look like a gilded picture frame. It looks great and is sure to appeal to anyone who like Asian style slot games. Konami have provided free Dragon’s Law video slots for anyone who likes to test a game out before staking their hard-earned cash, and it gives you a chance to see how it all works. In the base games, prizes are paid when enough examples of the same symbol are seen across a payline, running from the left side without a break in the sequence. It’s a standard format that will hopefully bring in a steady stream of reliable winnings.

Playing card symbols range in value from the 9, 10, J and Q, which are each worth five, ten, or 20 times your per line bet when seen on three, four or five reels. The K and A symbols pay out 25x when seen across four reels, but otherwise are worth the same. Realistic images of pink flowers and the pile of coins will return prizes of up to 150x the line stake, while lucky turtle and pig statues are worth high limits of 250x. A Chinese inscription framed by a love heart is the most rewarding standard symbol, paying out twice the line stake when it’s seen on reels one and two, with 500x paid if it lands right across a payline.

A Star Attraction

A five-pointed star is the wild symbol, substituting for standard symbols to create extra winning lines. It’s also worth between five and 1,000x the line bet, depending on how many reels at lands across. While that sounds like some great payouts, there’s a catch to how the Dragon’s Law wild symbol works, which we’ll get to in a moment.

The Yin Yang icon in a blue circle is a scatter symbol which pays five, ten and 50x the total stake, not just the per line bet like other symbols, when it’s seen in any three, four, or five places at once. This and the wild symbol can combine in the unique Dragon’s Law feature. After any spin, random wild symbols can be placed on the reels, overlaying any symbols that are already in view. This is the only time that the wild will be seen on the left side reel, and therefore the only time it can make a winning combination on its own. In normal spins, it will only be seen on reels two through to five.

If any of these random extra wilds overlays a scatter symbol, they change to a special combination of both, with the star and blue circle making the Dragon’s Law symbol. This is able to act as all others, including the scatter, which can result in more payouts of the total stake, as well as being a route to the free spins bonus feature.

Free Games With Enhanced Features

The other route to free spins is via the scatter symbol alone. The scatter awards eight, 12, or 20 free spins when it lands in three, four or five places at once, with the bonus games starting as soon as any prizes have been paid out. During these spins, the Dragon’s Law feature will occur more often and while it’s not guaranteed to result in more winnings, in practice it usually will.

The free spins can be retriggered, with any new games added on to the end of any still left to play out in the current round.

Bet Limits for all Punters

Just 0.45 is needed to play for real cash and you can change the coin values from 0.01 to 1.00, as well as the bet per line from one to ten coins. It gives a maximum stake of 450.00 per spin. Click the Auto Play button and the reels will spin for up to 500 times without you needing to do anything, but we always prefer to see an option to preset win or loss limits before activating automatic spins, and that’s missing here.

You can play Dragon’s Law on a variety of devices including iPhones, iPads, Android and Windows smartphones or tablets, as well as desktop PC’s and Macs.

Hordes of Dragon’s

Despite the name, Dragon’s Law doesn’t feature many actual dragons, so perhaps you should also check out other slots which are filled from reel to reel with these fire-breathing beasts. Rich colors and golden dragons are featured in the 50 Dragons video slot from Aristocrat. This game has some similar features to Dragon’s Law, such as free spins and wild substitutions, but also has stacked symbols that can make it easier to complete winning combos.

Chinese celebrations are the theme of the Dragon Lines video slot from Ainsworth. It has playing card icons, Yin Yang symbols, ceremonial drums and firecrackers on the five reels and 100 paylines. Line the bonus icons up to be awarded free spins, where the dragon wild symbol is on all reels, helping players to collect even more prizes.

A Dragon With Teeth?

While there’s a lot to like about the Dragon’s Law video slot, there’s a couple of details that we were a little disappointed with. When the game is loading up, you’re shown a spectacular image of blue and red dragons, but apart from their inclusion in the game logo above the reels, and some animations in the feature, there’s not much in the way of dragon-themed action going on. We weren’t too keen on the uninspiring soundtrack either, which is simply the mechanical-effect noise of reels spinning.

However, these shouldn’t put you off playing a colorful game has the potential to pay out some great prizes. A high return to players of 96% will give you lots of opportunities to claim rewards. The Dragon’s Law feature is quite enjoyable and with extra chances to collect wins in the free spins round, it’s a slot machine that’s going to appeal to a broad range of players.
