Seas Treasures from Roundstone International is out of the ordinary for the brand; perhaps you have played more games from them than us, but having been used to a certain aesthetic, this one took us by surprise. Given the name of the real cash slot, and others similar to it, such as Silent Run, you’d have expected a vivid 3x5 interface. What you get is a small 3x5 grid set against a virtual reality casino.
It seems that the brand wanted to offer a game better suited to those of a classic disposition, for too often old school slots can be visually unappealing, whereas this one is attractive and yet simple. That being said, in truth all of Roundstone’s games are good looking but basic to play, which begs the questions as to why the title has been created in this way. Maybe a playthrough will help us better understand?

A trip down memory lane is what it feels like to play this, from the gritty graphics to the simplistic control panel, everything here is like being back in an arcade, or a casino if you frequent them often. Sadly we haven’t visited many, so the effect here is most enjoyable for us, helping us to feel at one with a place we’ve always appreciated but never had chance to visit.
The settings are narrowed down to just a few buttons, with adds to the atmosphere of the game; in a couple of clicks you can be playing with all the winlines and spinning to win. As a result however, some favourite widgets have been sacrificed, the most obvious being the autoplay and maximum bet. In truth the max bet option isn’t always necessary, for most of us don’t like flaunting our cash, but the automatic rounds, well they’re as valuable as gold to us.
With that feature we can pop the kettle on whilst the reels tot up our spins, giving a more laid back feel to our downtime. Sadly though, it’s not meant to be here.
After a day at work we could all do with heading to the bar, but in Sea Treasures the BAR is a symbol that gifts you an additional spin, provided you find three of them upon your winlines. For maximum effect we’d say play with all 9 lines, but those purists out there may prefer having just a single line and going at this one hard.
Whichever way you decide to play, you’ll be given a chance, on the house, to make a win on top of your previous one.
We’ve become so used to Roundstone doing everything one way, that having no gamble option actually shocked us. In a game of such low variance, they can’t really afford not to have the option there. In Sea Treasures after every win, the total gets worked out and put back into the kitty, no questions or guessing required, as a result the thrill of this slot decreases in next to no time.
As much as we can appreciate that many classic slots don’t have double or nothing features, a lot of modern day equivalents made to look older do. Therefore not including one not only risks our enjoyability, but the success of the title as well; it’s a poor choice by the brand.
Going into this slot, we expected little and so we weren’t disappointed with what we got, but that doesn’t mean that makes sharing our findings with gamers any easier. Sea Treasures is a poor real cash slot from Roundstone International. It has nothing to do with its age, but its sheer lack of impact and focus, with the limited paytable only further hindering any sense of enjoyment we might have had.
If you’re going to play with the brand, might we suggest Underwater for those seeking sea themed games, or Viva Mexico for those unaffected by the looks of the title.
