Willy Wonka World of Wonka Slot Machine
Over the course of three generations, many movie fans – or just those of us with a serious sweet tooth – Willy Wonka has become a cultural institution. And while there are plenty of fans of 2005’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that starred Johnny Depp, most fans are more familiar with the original 1971 musical fantasy Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, in which Gene Wilder played the titular role of the owner and manager of a magical candy factory.
Over the years, a number of different slot machines have been made using this franchise as a basis. One of the latest is World of Wonka, a game created by WMS. Showed off to audiences at the 2016 G2E trade show, this is a fine addition to the longstanding tradition of using this magical world to create unforgettable experiences for gamblers.
Grab Your Golden Ticket
The World of Wonka slot machine uses an incredibly colorful display, one that is just perfect for the fantastic setting of the film it is based on. Rolling hills and streets lined with candy will bring you right back to the movie’s famous factory scenes. The whole package is made even more engaging and engrossing by the use of the Gamescape cabinet, a large machine that features five different video screens with plenty of room to show off not only the action, but the world the game is based around.
In accord with this spacious design, the reels are a bit extended, too: players will be matching symbols across a six-reel, 6x4 format, meaning that there are often a lot of symbols to look at and lines to keep track of during your spins. Most of the basic symbols are various types of candies, but you’ll also see many of the famous characters from the film on the reels: not just Wonka, but also Charlie, Grandpa Joe, Violet, Augustus, Mike, and Veruca. You can also find the Oompa-Loompas on the reels, where they act as wilds to help players complete winning paylines.
The Everlasting Gobstopper
Perhaps the most famous candy of all in the series is the Everlasting Gobstopper. Find three of these sweet treats on the reel, and you’ll be taken to a pinball like game where your gobstopper will bounce around, collecting bonus free spins and other rewards before falling into one of several potential bonus areas.
These special features are all based on iconic elements from the movie. For instance, you might enjoy an Oompa Loompa bonus, in which you’ll get to see the screen extended and several completely wild reels added, making some absolutely enormous wins possible. In the River Bonus, you’ll head over to the chocolate river and try to pull out up to seven treats (and various levels of risk) in order to earn the maximum amount of cash. Other bonuses include special Charlie and Grandpa free spins games, or a wheel bonus that can earn instant prizes.
Pure Imagination
There’s no doubt that the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory series is based entirely on stimulating our imaginations, and World of Wonka does a brilliant job of living up to that legacy. There is so much color and liveliness throughout the machine that you’ll really feel like you’ve been sucked into an unreal world. If you loved the 1971 film, you won’t be able to resist the childlike charm of this world of pure imagination. And unlike in the factory of the films, there’s no problem with being too greedy here: the more money you can manage to win, the better!
