Casino slot machines giants, iSoftBet, have been a bit quiet on the Egyptian-themed slots front of late. The leading developer has some previous experience in with the theme, of course. Pharaoh's Lotus and Pharaoh's Treasures were both effective real cash slots that had cute graphics and simple bonus features. Scrolls of Ra HD, meanwhile, offered a slicker user experience with some eye-popping animation and bonus rounds.
And if you're tired of sparkling glitter-tastic online slots like Disco Double and Joker Stacks, Eye Of The Amulet might be for you. To be fair, new titles have been coming thick and fast from the iSoftBet camp, but it's sometimes hard to gauge whether the quality is there.
The Eye of the Amulet video slot has 40 tasty paylines for players to gamble across. However, with a Bonus Wheel included for some extra special wins, could this game give Novomatic's classic Book of Ra a run for its money? Let's take a closer look.

Eye of the Amulet offers something a little similar to Scrolls of Ra. The sound FX and music are awesome and the atmosphere really puts you in ancient Egypt. Of course, Egyptian-themed online slots are nothing new, but it's a theme that players keep coming back to.
The online slot is played on a set of 4x5 reels where some symbols appear stacked. Our heroes are two adventurers - one male, one female - and in true Tomb Raider or Rich Wilde fashion, they look like they could probably dispatch a mummy or two if they needed to.
The easy HTML5 format lets you gamble across all platforms and the game is mobile-optimised. We still found it a little glitchy in our Internet Explorer browser, however. Players have the option to set an Autoplay function up to 1000 spins but there are also Loss Limit and Win Stop functions too.
The paytable is set up perfectly for mobile gamblers. You can switch easily between the basic payouts, a special bonus feature description page, and a dedicated page for paylines. There's also a round-up of the rules. Just click on the '?' symbol above the game reels.
The biggest draw of the game, other than a bonus wheel, is a 'desert wind' that can whip up and blow a sandstorm across the reels. If this happens, you can land random Wild symbols, special 5-of-a-Kind wins, whole Wild reels, or trigger a bonus feature. When it comes to online slots bonus games, this game really delivers.
Eye Of The Amulet features 40 paylines to bet across, and they come fixed. Oddly, however, the total stake per spin is just 20x the value of the coins. Coins range from 0.01 to 1.00 so there's plenty of scope for some big betting.
Most symbols appear stacked, which makes good use of the 4x5 structure. There are nine regular symbols in the game, starting with the low limit 10, J, Q, K, and A symbols. Three 10s will win you just 2 coins and there's a 10-coin jackpot for 5OAK. Jacks, Queens, Kings, and Aces pay better, but even 5OAK Aces pays 40 coins.
Better are the Egyptian artefact icons. The golden ankh ornament pays 6-60 coins, with the Sphinx dishing out 8-80 coins. Finally, our hero and heroine are the best payers. The man pays 12-125 coins for 3OAK to 5OAK, while the female explorer pays a top prize of 250 coins for 5OAK. You'll also bag 3 coins just for hitting 2OAK. And well done iSoftBet: it's good to see the female characters paying out the biggest jackpots for a change.
Eye of the Amulet has a regular Wild symbol - the golden Scarab Beetle - which substitutes for all regular symbols in the game. It also appears stacked on the reels, but annoyingly rarely on the reels you really need them on.
There's a juicy BONUS Amulet symbol to watch out for too. Three or more of these gold amulets activates a free spins feature. Three Scatters triggers 5 free spins, four Scatters 10 free spins, and five Scatters 15 free spins. During free spins, landing 2-5 Amulet icons adds on 3-30 extra free games for you.
When triggering the bonus game, you will also activate the Bonus Wheel round. The bonus wheel is a nifty addition for punters. With this you can add more free spins, Extra Wild symbols, and multipliers on your wins.
If you like your casino slot machines with to have an Egyptian edge, you'd do far worse than check out some other iSoftBet titles.
Head over to the Scrolls of Ra HD online slot page and play this great slot. Although it only has 5 reels and three rows, there are 20 paylines to bet across. In addition, the game features a jackpot worth 100,000 coins.
Don't forget to also check out the similar Pharaoh's Treasures online slot. It has some super, atmospheric sound FX for players, a decent range of coin bets, and Scatters galore. Players can also trigger a special Sphinx bonus game with up to 20,000 coins up for grabs.
The free Eye of the Amulet video slot certainly gives gamblers a thrill, whether playing for real money via a deposit option like MasterCard, or for free. It's easy on the eye, has interesting characters, and has bonuses galore. Of course, that all makes the game pretty volatile, and the Wild stacks tend to appear on exactly the reels you DON'T want them to appear on.
Still, for some handy mobile-optimised fun from iSoftBet, this new game is a winner. Just don't mention it in the same breath as Book Of Ra from the established casino software developer, Novomatic.
