Sic Bo Online

Sic Bo is a three-dice casino game that plays more or less like Craps or Chuck-a-Luck, but with a couple of adjustments. Learning to play this game takes an average reader a few minutes to understand the rules and layout, with its associated payoffs. This game is developed from an ancient Chinese dice game.

How to Play

Sic Bo is played on a table with three dice, whether online or in a land-based casino. You are required to place a wager on one of the many bet options indicated on the table layout. The dice are then put in a plastic cylinder and given a fair shake. When the results of the dice are revealed, several spots on the table will be termed winners. If you bet on any of these spots, you will be paid according to the odds on the paytable.

Small and Big Bets

Like Chuck-a-Luck, Sic Bo involves big numbers (11-17) and small numbers (4-10) with the winning wagers paying even money, 1:1. You will win when you choose big bet and the dice totals 11-17 and lose when your total is 18 or between 3 and 10. Betting small will see you win when your dice totals between 4 and 10 and lose when it totals 3 or between 11 and 17.

Odd and Even Bets

This is also a simple bet where you choose the outcome of the dice total to be either odd or even. You will win an odd bet whenever the dice results add up to an odd number and lose if it is an even number, and the reverse is true for the even bets.

Total of All Dice Bets

This is one of the most popular bets in which you bet on the total number that will appear on the dice. This bets comes with a really nice paytable, as listed below:

Total of 4 or 17: Winning bets paid 50:1
Total of 5 or 16: Winning bets paid 18:1
Total of 6 or 15: Winning bets paid 14:1
Total of 7 or 14: Winning bets paid 12:1
Total of 8 or 13: Winning bets paid 8:1
Total of 9, 10, 11 or 12: Winning bets paid 6:1

Take note that these are independent bets, and you, for instance either bet on 4 or 17, and not both. Of course, you can place a bet on both numbers by placing two separate bets on the table.

Triple Bets

You can also bet on any triple (e.g. 555, 111, 333, etc.). The payout on Sic Bo triple bets is 24:1.

Double Bets

Similar to triple bets, double bets predicts that at least two numbers will be similar like 22, 33, 44, etc. When this happens, the payout is 8:1.

Single Number Bets

You can bet on a single number appearing on a dice, and this of course runs from 1 to 6. Your payout will depend on the number of times your chosen number appears. For instance, you will win 1:1 if your chosen number appears only on one die, 2:1 if it appears on two dice, and 3:1 if it appears on all three dice.

Tips and Strategy

Since Sic Bo is a game based on luck, there is really no strategy that you can apply. Nonetheless, the best bets to place are Odd/Even and Big/Small, as they have a lower house edge of about 2.78%. Other bets like the triple bets have a house edge that goes up to 30%.
