There are few rivers on the face of the earth that can rival the kind of history and cultural richness that the Nile carries. Tens of thousands of life species depend upon the Nile either directly, or indirectly for survival. And Fruits of the Nile aims to celebrate this very fact.
Like all Playson slots, Fruits of the Nile is fully compatible with HTML5 codec (the Flash support for it was withdrawn recently), and so, can be easily loaded, logged onto and played on almost every modern device (read: smartphones and tablets).
Pretty cool. The whole idea of basing a slot on something as particular as life around the Nile might seem too bold and ambitious to some fans, but we have to applaud the developers here, because they have pulled it off incredibly well.
A plain and simple background that mimics the vast, dry plains of Egypt sets a tone that is carried forward by symbols that fit in like fingers in a glove.
Very easy. Being a basic slot devoid of too many decorations in terms of gameplay, Fruits of the Nile plays out without any hiccups. If you are an experienced slot player, we don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t feel right at home here, even when you haven’t played any Playson slots before.
Where the gameplay of Fruits of the Nile differs from classic land-based slot machines is the reel-payline setup. Almost every classic slot machine used to feature three reels and a solitary payline, while this particular slot has five reels and five active paylines.
Even though that’s a significant improvement right there, we are still not fully convinced about the payout potential that a reel to payline ratio as high as unity can offer.
Very little. You can wager up to 20 coins per payline, meaning that the total number of coins you will be wagering cannot exceed 100. Not much, we understand – but hey, it would be unfair to expect much more than this from what essentially is a classic penny slot!
If it comes as any consolation, players would be happy to know that the combinations in Fruits of the Nile are to be read from the left to the right, as well as from the right to the left. This seemingly small development opens up a huge box of potential combinations, and we couldn’t be gladder to have it in place.
Once you have put your coins on the line, everything rests upon how the symbols stack up and what story they unfold. The majority of the character set of this story consists of fruits of classic slots: lemons, plums, cherries, watermelons, oranges and grapes. While these are not really the ones that you can look up to for huge jackpots, they pay decently well at times, allowing you to extract your wagers safely, if not anything else.
For that, you need to look a little bit higher. There you can find an Egyptian native Scarab Beetle who will be the wild of this slot. It has all the usual finesse of a wild, but it doesn’t pay out for its own combinations (sigh!).
The most fruitful symbol here, however, isn’t a fruit at all. It is a golden star (scatter) that carries a flat-out, no-conditions-apply multipliers of 5x, 10x and 50x for 3, 4 and 5 appearances on screen. The ubiquitous gamble feature of Colours and Suits seals the whole deal.
Fruits of the Nile is a fairly easy slot to master, even for novices. It has no twists and no turns, and plays to a formula that can be found in dozens of other slots. But the peculiarity of theme and full commitment to it in design really make all the difference here, lifting Fruits of the Nile a few notches higher.
