Frog Story takes place in a fairy tale universe, quite obviously, and at such the designers strived to create an atmosphere of fantasy and mystery.

The action is set in a forest, with lush vegetation and intricate tree roots merging in the middle of the path. You can catch a glimpse of a clear stream bordered by flowers, all bathed in soft sunlight. As you probably have gathered now, the settings are quite idyllic and peaceful. You will die to explore this enchanted forest a little further.

As usual in EGT creations, there is no background music playing but instead several sound effects triggered by the spinning of the reels and after each win.

In terms of gameplay, Frog Story is a no brainer. You have five reels and 20 fixed paylines to bet on, with no possibility to deactivate some paylines. That leaves you with only one parameter to modify: the actual size of your wager. Use the shortcuts at the bottom of the game screen to choose between a 20, 40, 100, 200 or 400-coin wager. The reels will start spinning automatically once your choice is made.

After each win, general consisting of a combination of identical of a payline, you will have the possibility to gamble your new coins by clicking the corresponding button when it appears. The mini game that ensues is a simple guessing challenge, where you have to guess the colour of a hidden card. Every correct answer will double your gold stash, but the game will be over with one single mistake – and your gold will be gone forever as well.

Another option is to use the orange Autoplay button on the left hand side of the screen in order to let the reels spin loose on a constant bet for as long as you like. Sit back and watch the wins pile up! And keep in mind that each win gives you a chance to trigger the Jackpot Cards Bonus game as well, the only gateway to Frog Story’s progressive jackpots. There are four of them, displayed in the running counters at the top of the screen. One the game has started, start picking facedown cards until you find three of the same suit. You will collect the corresponding gigantic jackpot instantaneously.

One more original point of gameplay is Toppling Reels feature. After each win, the symbols concerned vanish and new ones come trickling down from above. Should a new winning combination appear then, its value will be multiplied by two. Each time the Toppling Reels feature creates a new combo, the multiplier will be increased by one.

Let’s have a look at the paytable of Frog Story now. It begins with a few classic symbols: the Jack, Queen, King and Ace in colourful calligraphy. They do not pay much, but they can pave the way to bigger wins thanks to the Toppling Reels feature anyhow.

They are followed by a mysterious Treasure Chest, a set of magic Potions, the Princess and Prince and finally the old and wise wizard. Each symbol is full of details and starts moving when forming a winning combination, making the game very lively and entertaining.

You will find two more symbols on the paytable. The first one of them is the Castle, which acts as a Scatter symbol. Regardless of its position on the reels, it will award tremendous prizes: 500 times your original bet for a five-scatter combination.

Lastly, the famous Frog is there to be our Wild card for the game. As such, it is able to substitute any other symbol besides the Scatter card. It appears on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th reels and when it does so it automatically expands to the whole reels, triggering even more extra combinations!

Frog Story combines classic slot game elements with innovations such as the Toppling Reels feature and the many in-game animations. This makes for a lively and pleasant game that many players will surely love.

The restrictions in the settings, especially the fixed number of paylines, will be a deal breaker for some, though.
