    Lucky Koi Slots

To those not in the know, it could appear that Spade Gaming simply enjoys attaching the word ‘lucky’ onto most of its gaming titles, giving a false sense of hope. Yet in reality they only ever make use of the phrase when it’s in reference to a traditionally lucky symbol; the koi carp, despite being known for its beauty, is actually a common signifier of good fortunes.

To emphasise the luck it can bring, the koi of this slot machine has been painted gold, a colour that is universally seen as a shade associated with wealth. Whether you’ll be receiving any riches is both down to you and the players return rate, but it’s unlikely that you’ll leave empty handed.

There are 20 winlines and 5 reels encased inside a 3x5 matrix, a standard size slot machine without any surprises so far. However, when you look into the dynamics of the game and the features it offers, you see that the gameplay isn’t predictable at all. In fact, a lot of it is all about randomness and chance.

    Swimming up Stream

One of the images that surround the history of the koi is of it going against the current of a stream – it’s seen as a sign of its strength in the face of many difficulties.

Fortunately for all of you, you won’t be facing such an upward struggle, as many payouts happen in short bursts at regular intervals, though the majority are often of low value. Nonetheless, the fact we can say that we experienced several wins is a sign that the difficulty here is low to medium

    Money Does Grow on Trees

How many times have you heard the saying ‘money doesn’t grow on trees’? It’s a phrase that has dogged a lot of us most of our lives, ever in search of more funds to help us simply live. With Lucky Koi money does appear upon the branches of a tree, though it’s unlike any we’d plant in our gardens.

To activate the Money Tree Feature, customers will need to have found a significant number of its symbols upon the first or fifth reel. Once they’ve done this, they will be taken to the great money tree, upon which several ang bao have started to grow; these tiny gifts have free games inside. Having picked the one for you, for good or ill, you’ll then have to select one of three lucky coins, which will determine the multiplier you’ll receive during the extra rounds. The most a multiplier can be is worth x10, and the greatest number of spins is 20.

This is all good, but what has become of the scatter if the bonus is all about free spins? Well the scatter in Lucky Koi has become a monetary tile that applies a multiplier. It doesn’t pay much money at all, no more than €50, but thanks to the multiplier it becomes a more worthwhile find.

    Painted Gold

The Lucky Koi has every right to be golden when you take a look at its worth: 10,000 credits can be yours when you find five of a kind along the reels. And even if you don’t manage to get the maximum amount, you can still enjoy it removing other icons from upon the matrix, not that the scatter or bonus will budge.

Also in gold are four other symbols, each of which can be classed as having high financial returns, with the lowest of the group still bringing in between 5 and 300 credits. Although it’s true that the J tile can also bring in 5 coins, it does so with a match of three, yet the coin symbol delivers that amount with only a pair.

    Fickle Luck

For saying that this koi is meant to be lucky, we never got close to the jackpot prize, which feels rather unlucky to us. Nonetheless, as for the game itself, Lucky Koi has the potential to go big and thus so do its players.

It’s much the same from Spade Gaming, especially with their theme of choice, but that’s what they’re known for so why should we expect anything different? If we had to say whether this was a good or bad game, we’d say it was mildly good but had much room for improvement. Though one element that doesn’t need any work is that low wager point of just 0.20 credits!
