Symbols are in two main groups. There’s the wooden-effect playing card icons that run from 9 to A and pay out the smaller prizes, but as a result will appear quite often and land you lots of winnings. The more interesting symbols, both in terms of appearance and potential rewards are the various animals that populate this farm. Land a chicken on three, four, or five reels from the left side and you’ll feather your nest with prizes of 25x, 100x, or 450x the value of a coin. The sheep pays a high limit of 450 coins, and there’s up to 750 coins to collect when the cow lands across the reels.
Top dog in this game is the dog. The farmers’ best friend pays out 100 coins when he’s seen on the first three reels, while lines of four are worth 1,000 coins and you fetch a prize of 3,500 when this symbol is on all five reels.
While it’s not worth anything on its own, the scarecrow is a wild symbol that’s still a valuable one to see. It can act as any of those listed above to help complete winning combinations, tripling the base value of the payout. Matching symbols on reels one and three for example, wouldn’t normally pay anything, but if the scarecrow is seen on reel two, it will substitute for the others and you still win a prize.
The scarecrow can’t replace the tomato, as this is a scatter symbol that works in a different way to others. Three tomatoes on consecutive reels will firstly pay out a prize of 25 times the total bet, not just the coin value. Then you are awarded 11 free spins, with any winnings during the round randomly multiplied by three or five times over.
A classic red barn is a special bonus symbol that’s worth initial prizes of 15, 75, or 250 coins when it’s on three, four, or five reels. You then enter the Whack a Mole bonus round where you simply bash moles over the head with a wooden hammer, collecting win multipliers with each successful strike. The round carries on until either the time runs out or you reach the maximum multiplier. It’s not a very animal-friendly round, but good fun anyway and one that’s guaranteed to end up in some nice wins.
The low limit wager of 0.25 per spin can be raised all the way up to a huge maximum bet of 1,000.00. It makes Farm Mania a great game for anyone who just likes to spin the reels of a slot machine for a bit of fun, as well as serious gamblers looking to land some massive wins.
As this slot machine is compatible with Android smartphones, tablets, iPhones, iPads and Windows devices, you can choose how and where to play Farm Mania. Other betting options include the choice of spinning the reels automatically for as many times as you want, while you also bet to decide whether to play the soundtrack or not. It’s a country music sound, played on banjos and with the occasional ‘baa’, ‘moo’, or ‘cluck’ thrown in for good measure.
With some impressive 3D effect graphics that feature a virtual zoo of animals, the Money Farm slot from GameArt is a great alternative to Farm Mania. Dogs, pigs, sheep and cows all appear across the five reels of this five-payline slot game. A cheerful chicken is the wild symbol and when it helps to complete a combination, you are awarded five reel respins for free. Any golden eggs that appear in a respin will pay out the same amount as the win that triggered the feature. Money Farm also comes with an exciting gamble round that can potentially double a prize over and over when you correctly guess if a playing card will be from a red or black suit.
A red barn frames the five reels and 50 lines of the Farm of Fun video slot from Spinomenal. This also takes a cartoon approach to the subject, which seems to be a common feature across just about all slots that follow the same theme. Scarecrows, sheep, cows and dogs once more fill the reels, although we also have a farmer who takes you to a fun bonus round. The aim is to pick objects around the farmyard, which isn’t unusual, but if you find hidden animals, you get to make additional picks, collecting coins as you gather in the livestock. Free spins and wild multiplier symbols are also found on this rewarding smallholding.
While the graphics are not the best we’ve seen, it’s certainly a fun-looking game. Colourful creatures and a lively soundtrack bring the farming community to your computer or mobile device and the features are a bumper crop of rewarding rounds.
We really enjoyed the Whack a Mole game, although extras like the tripling of wins when the wild symbol completes a combination, and multipliers during the free spins are also outstanding.
