Pirates of the Seven Reels Slot Machine
Looking for a pirate themed slot game that offers something just that little bit different? Then Pirates of the Seven Reels may be for you.
While there are plenty of games that incorporate the swashbuckling world of pirates, parrots and the high seas, this one maximises the opportunity of having two extra reels. Not to mention the possibility of 3 jackpots, bonus games and a Wild and Expanded Wild.
Island Delights
As you can imagine with the game’s name, all the classic and appropriate symbols are here: the treasure chest, heavily-masted ship, skull and crossbones flag, musket and parrot. There’s even a lamp and cannonball, just to jazz things up a little. And yes, the treasure chest is the most valuable symbol.
The background looks rather simple, but avoids using the traditional pirate ship. Instead it has the viewpoint from an island, framed by trees, rocks and bushes, looking out to calm blue seas. The game’s name at the top has the skull and crossbones logo. Are you ready for the adventure?
Beneath the reels are all the buttons, with Fast Play being in the shape of a cutlass and Spin being in the form of a compass. It’s a neat touch. The number of betting lines isn’t shown either side of the reels which makes sense as these don’t change throughout the game.
The music most certainly keeps to the theme. The ghostly chants are ones that would have been sung by pirates at the time and you’ll probably find yourself humming along at some point.
Sounds Good to Me
The fact that the number of betting lines is a rigid 14 paylines can be good or bad. While it does mean less flexibility, it usually allows more opportunities on the betting per line. Although there aren’t as many options as you would find on most games with a set betting line, here it enables you to play for higher stakes. There are no low decimal numbers, with the choice of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50,100, 500 and 1,000.
You don’t have to worry about the game going too slowly as the pace is pretty speedy. You can quicken things though with the Fast Play setting and by playing on Auto. In terms of other set-ups, if you get tired of the sounds you can change it on the volume dial, or get rid of the music, the sound effects or both. You may want to consider that last one as the tunes are a nice mix of nautical life and jackpot victory sounds.
Mapping the Bonuses
Who doesn’t want to hit big? Here on Pirates of the Seven Reels you have 3 progressive jackpots you can win from, Major, Mega and Mini. While Mini will provide a 3 figure prize, and Major a low 4 figure reward, it’s the Mega Jackpot that pays best.
It is tricky to win as you need to hit Scatters on all the reels and hope the jackpot you get is Mega. But there are plenty of bonuses before you do.
The red-nosed green parrot Bonus is included among the 8 regular symbols, as it has a value of 50 credits for 3. But you need to get 4 of a kind to trigger the extra game. As well as 400 credits, you’ll receive a map with 6 different symbols. You keep clicking on different highlighted parts until you hit the one that says Collect. While the prizes are low there is an impressive 7,000 prize on offer.
The Wildcard of a skull and crossbones flag has the regular significance of replacing everything except Bonus and Scatter. Less conventional is the Expanded Wild of a pirate ship. This happens when 2 Wildcards appear on the same reel in regular gameplay. During a Free Spin round, you actually only need to get one.
Three Free Spins are activated when you get 4 or more of the compass Scatter. You won’t want to FOURget that, as it quadruples your winnings. To minimise any confusion, Free Spins take place in a blue background instead of the grey one.
There’s Treasure Out there
With so many pirate slot games out there, it can be risky to have another one within the genre. But while its treasure map bonus may be a bit flat and needs more originality, the rest has plenty going for it. There are 3 neat jackpots up for grabs, the game is easy and fun to play and it does reward the more adventurous player.
