Red Corrida by Oryx is game based on an unlikely love trio between Juan the matador, Anna Maria the beautiful woman, and Ferdinand the angry bull.

Both the matador and Ferdinand are determined to win Anna Maria’s heart but to do so they must defeat their sworn enemy.

Once the game starts you’ll find the reels in the centre of a bullring ahead of the corrida (bullfight) which is due to take place. You can almost smell the sawdust in the ring and hear the murmurs of the crowd so don’t waste any timing in placing your bet.

On the reels you’ll find an array of traditional bullfighting symbols including the matador, the bull, Anna Maria, a depiction of the fight, the arena and a white kerchief and rose.

There’s no background sounds but as you spin the reels you’ll be treated to a short burst of traditional Spanish music, which will seem very brief.

You’re not either the matador nor the bull, but an observer in the crowd so it won’t be difficult for you to slip away and find out exactly what the paytable holds.

You can access the paytable by clicking on the “info” button on the bottom left of the reels.

The lower value symbols require a match of three on an active payline to provide a win but the higher value symbols pay out for just two matches.

The Corrida poster acts as the wild symbol and can substitute for nearly all the others on the board, helping to create winning combinations more easily.

Once you’ve finished looking through the paytable, return to the main screen to set your bet before play.

You’ll have the option to set the value of the coin at anything from 0.01 to 0.50 as well as to decide how many coins to play with per line, with 10 the maximum permitted. There’s 25 paylines in the game but you can reduce these if you so choose by clicking on the plus and minus buttons on screen.

Having the ability to amend all of these options provides the game with a degree of flexibility and makes it accessible to more players.

As well as matching symbols on the reels, there’s the possibility of winning extra cash as Juan and Ferdinand enter into yet another fight before your eyes.

You can unlock the Bullfight bonus feature by spinning at least three of the arena symbols on the reels. Juan and Ferdinand the bull will be dueling yet again, both hoping to capture the heart of the beautiful Anna Maria.

When the lady herself appears in triplicate on the reels, the Free Spins bonus will become available. Depending on whether you spun 3, 4 or 5 of the Anna Maria symbol determines whether you’ll be granted 10, 15 or 25 free spins. All the free spins comes with a x2 multiplier.

There’s a little extra for you during the free spins as either, or both, of Juan and Ferdinand could enter into “rage mode”. To activate this, you’ll need to spin both of them together in a winning combination but it’s a worthwhile wait. If you’re trying to maximise your winnings, there’s also the Gamble feature. This allows you to play to double any win that you land. You’ll find yourself in the centre of the ring but you won’t be facing a bull, just a pack of cards. Your job is to decide whether the next card to be revealed will be black or red. If you win, you’ll double your money but if you lose, you’ll return to the main game with nothing.
