You might feel a tad nostalgic after a few moments playing Golden India. Visually speaking, the game is a throwback to the earlier online slot games in terms of design.

The background is a simple and quasi-uniform deep blue colour, with five bright red reels on top. The reel frame and the various commands around it are placed into simple, rectangular boxes. The screen is framed by a set of two heavily decorated golden pillars as well.

The music is, of course, Indian… and exactly as you would imagine Indian music to sound like. It does a great job complimenting the visual theme of the game and makes for a good, immersive atmosphere overall. But you could not really say that the general design of Golden India is anything to shout about. And that’s a shame, considering what could have been done.

Golden India puts you in charge of every possible setting you could think of, which is great if you want to personalize your gaming experience and make the best out of it.

The basic rule is that you need to form one or several combinations of identical symbols on an active payline to trigger the corresponding cash prize. Before hitting the red Spin button to let the reels loose, take a moment to look at the other commands located below the reels. Here, you can select the number of paylines you wish to activate, the maximum being 25 paylines. You can also choose how many coins to bet on your next spin, between 0.20 and 2 at a time. According to these setting, your Total Bet amount will vary and you will be able to keep an eye on it at all times, and modify it accordingly.

Use the Bet Max button to automatically activate all 25 paylines, and the Auto Spins option to let the reels spin on their own as many times as you want. You have also shortcuts to trigger x5 or x10 spins in a row.

The paytable of Golden India is quite varied. It contains 11 symbols in total, both traditional Indian cultural icons and modern symbols, which players will immediately recognise.

Let’s begin with these. At the bottom of the paytable you will find symbols directly inspired from playing cards and ranging from 10 to the Ace. They are represented in a simple, golden font with a few jewels incrusted. Moving upwards, you will find the Peacock and the Tiger, closely followed by the sacred Indian Cow.

Golden India brings some contradicting elements to the table. The design of both the game set and the symbols is classic and rather simplistic compared to other games with a similar theme such as Jewels of India by H5G.

That being said, the game is fast-paced and the Free Spins abundant. Golden India also offers a double Gambling feature after each winning spin, where guessing correctly the colour of a hidden card pays double, but guessing its suit can quadruple your wager.
