Trapped in Space

Despite what the name might suggest, you’re in space when you discover the ravenous alien horde rather than on earth, which gives this activity a more terrifying identity with which you can engage. Remember the tagline ‘In space nobody can hear you scream’? Well that’s the tactic the gaming brand has gone for here.

Whereabouts you are though is anyone’s guess, as so much of the universe still needs to be explored, not to mention that you have a 3x5 grid that is made up of giant swords that look like they’ve come from an RPG. These weapons, whilst not totally out of place, feel like they’re unnecessary in order to complete the aesthetics of the game; they don’t complement what 777igt has created here.

Safe Passage

In a lot of sci-fi worlds, money doesn’t guarantee you any form of safety, but with Aliens Ozone you can rest assured that no alien can touch you so long as you play for real. This is because they seem to enjoy the taste of human currency.

To start off with you can bet as low as 0.01 per line, which will grow into a final €0.25 bet, but you can also jump straight to the maximum amount of €50. We use the Max Bet toggle when we do this.

While we like the friendliness of the betting controls, we don’t appreciate the Autospin ones, simply because you still have to press the spin button to launch the game. Usually when you set your automatic rounds, the game will start playing itself, but with Aliens Ozone you have to set the amount and then still click to play. It just feels cumbersome, especially when the whole point is to simplify the game not make it more tedious.

Moving on to when you make a win, not only will the tiles spin and flash, but a row of coins will bounce their way along the control panel until they land on the credit display, where you will then watch as the total increases. Small touches like this should never be overlooked, as they can make or break a game when it has you sitting on the fence.

An Alien Problem

There’s an even bigger problem with this title though, and it’s one that seems to dog all 777igt titles: they never tell you what the bonus round is. This may sound trivial, but when you’re a customer playing the demo, you want to know what you can expect to be rewarded when you play for real.

Keeping everything secret can go one of two ways: peak interests and get players excited, or turn them off and make them go elsewhere. Luckily for us, we actually managed to trigger the level.

It’s a simple pick a card game, only the cards have been replaced with high-density metal doors; there are only a handful to pick from, with your decision giving you a payout. We never managed to make a choice though as the game made it for us, apparently deciding we’d taken to long to choose. This could be a demo feature only, but if it’s not, it’s an element we don’t care for as it takes away from our experiences.

Just Another Game

Aliens Ozone is just another game. It doesn’t do anything different, and not even the dark and menacing theme can improve the experience. We understand that a lot of brands stick with what they know to work, but in this instance it actually backfires and makes the game lack a lot of depth and creativity. This isn’t normally something we comment on with the 777igt brand, so we implore you to try some of their other titles on for size.
