Which Are Which?

Players will be shown a total of 49 balls, with six of them being the spanners in the works: they will terminate your game and your bet and any chance of getting the jackpot will be lost. And with a final sum of 5,000,000 credits you’ll want to avoid that happening at all costs.

The balls have been designed to look photorealistic, so that you feel as if you’re right in front of the authentic lottery machines rather than playing from your devices at home. They gleam under the light, and their tones range across a rich blue to a subtle purple into a fierce pinky red.

When you click on one of the balls it will rotate and be replaced with a currency sign to symbolise that it is indeed a good lotto ball that you’ve found. If you find a black ball though it will be revealed and so too will all the others that were hiding, not that it’ll matter as once you’ve been shown them the title will end and you’re taken back to the beginning.

If you prefer a much faster experience, and enjoy throwing every sense of cautious to the wind (you’re braver than us!), then you can swipe across the lines in a mass reveal, hoping and praying all of them turn into money signs.

All In

The controls here are similar to slot machines seen elsewhere: prior to the start you select your bet, from a small 1.00 up to 10.00 coins, the latter amount being the one that will get you the final 5,000,000 payout. Should you opt for anything lower than 10.00 credits your jackpot will also be reduced, which seems only fair; you can still walk away with 500,000 even if you only bet with 1.00, so you can’t really grumble too much.

What the betting range tells us, besides this being a high stakes game, is that it’s a lot less accessible than other activities online. Now, 1.00 may not sound like a lot, but to users on a tight budget anything above a couple of cents and they’re put off having a punt. There is always the demo mode in that case, but that’s just not as much fun.

Physically making the stake is easy as there is a box indicating your current sum of money and then an up and down arrow to help you increase/decrease to suit your wallet. After which you tap ‘Start’ and the balls will line up in neat rows. What is nice to see, although maybe not comforting, is the win rate of 1 in 2.3 – it’s actually not that bad, but with everything determined at random, that rate could still turn against you.

But That’s the Lottery Right, Folks?

Before you get excited that you can leave the game at any time with your cash in tow, you might want to remember that you can’t opt for the payout until you find at least six decent numbers. Once you meet that limit the bar that displays how close you are to the jackpot changes colour to make everything clear to you.

Good Fun All Round

Boss the lotto is an amusing title that you can sink your teeth into, however we can’t help but notice that it’s very similar to Epic Games from Gamevy, with the theme and design the only aspects that have changed. Still, the money is too good to ignore, and if jewels felt a little too cutesy or feminine, the lottery balls are sure to put you more at ease.
