To start your game of 21+3 Top 3, you first have to choose your bet in order to play for real money. To make your choice, you can click on the chips at the left of the screen. These give you a choice of the white $1 chip, the red $5 chip, the green $25 chip, the black $100 chip and the purple $500 chip. You can click on these chips to create the stake of your choice up to the table maximum of $500 for the regular blackjack game and $100 for your side bet. You can check out the instructions and paytable by clicking on the side links for transparent gaming.
The side bet places a bet on the hand created by your first 2 cards and the dealer’s up card. You can win a payout if this combination creates a flush, straight, three-of-a-kind or straight-flush. The hand is checked straight away on the first deal of the hand and if you don’t hit one of these special combinations, you lose your side bet and the game continues. The same thing happens with the Top 3 bet, which checks for three-of-a-kind suited, straight flush and three-of-a-kind.
In blackjack, you will always get a payout straight away if you hit a blackjack (a ten value card and an Ace) as you first two cards. This pays at odds of 3 to 2. You can also get extra payouts die to the side bets. If you manage to hit a winning 3 card hand you can get a payout of 9 to 1. Plus, if you manage to get a Top 3 win, you can walk away with 90 to 1 for 3–of-a-kind, 180 to 1 for a straight flush, and 270 to 1 for 3-of-a-kind suited.
Although the payouts can be enormous, these bets can eat up a lot of your bankroll if you use the higher denomination chips, so it is important to think carefully before making the bigger side bets. The rest of the game plays as usual with the regular options to take a card, stand, double or split. You can also surrender your hand if you aren’t confident of beating the dealer, which retains half your stake. Any win during normal play pays as even money.
If you like the game of blackjack there sare plenty of similar games to enjoy in the world of online casinos. There are lots of blackjack variations and many with side bets and quirky gameplay. For example, you could check out Atlantic City blackjack by Microgaming. This blackjack game is played with 8 decks and the first card of the dealer is displayed face-down. You can split or double, just like in 21+3 Top 3, while you can also choose to play in the classic ‘gold’ series with either a single deck or with multi-hand formats.
21+3 Top 3 gives players the choice of making some potentially lucrative side bets on top of their regular blackjack game.
