💡 Problem Gambling Support for Players in NZ
Gambling Helpline (also part of Safer Gambling Aotearoa)
What they do: This is the main free national helpline for anyone in New Zealand — gamblers, whānau/friends, or anyone worried about someone else’s gambling. They provide confidential counselling, initial assessment, referral to face-to-face services, ongoing support, crisis intervention and self-help resources.
How to get help: Call 0800 654 655 (24/7) or text 8006. You can also use online chat via their website. The Gambling Helpline also coordinates several specialist lines depending on background or need: Māori support, Pasifika support, youth support, and debt-related support.
PGF Services (Problem Gambling Foundation)
What they do: PGF provides free and confidential counselling and support (in person, by phone/video, live chat or email) to anyone in NZ affected by gambling — whether you're the gambler or a concerned family/whānau member. Includes peer and cultural support.
How to get help: Free phone 0800 664 262, text 5819, or use the live chat on their website. PGF also maintains clinics in multiple regions across NZ, so if you'd prefer face-to-face support, they can help you find a local clinic.
