Da Vinci Codex is set during the Italian Renaissance, a time of great scientific discoveries and where the arts also flourished.

That being said, the game adopts a rather conservative and simple look. The reels are framed by golden ornaments, and displayed on a deep red background. Nothing else, and if the colours are bright and warm, Da Vinci Codex is perhaps less impressive than it might seem.

The game setup is larger than usual: five reels of four symbols each, with a total of 100 fixed paylines available. You will have to bet on all those paylines at each turn, the command arrows at the bottom of the game screen are only there to let you adjust the size of your wager. Winning combinations landing on paylines will pay a cash prize, which you can double thanks to the optional gambling mini game. The letter icons V-I-N-C-I are perhaps the most original feature of the game. If you can line them up horizontally and spell Vinci, a Bonus round of six Free Spins will begin. The letters then turn into Wilds and remain in place throughout the Bonus round to maximise your chances of winning big.

Da Vinci Codex begins as an ambitious slot game that somehow disappoints with its very simple visual atmosphere.
