Mortal Oath Slot Played & Reviewed

The Mortal Oath online slot is the debut release from Foxhound Games, introducing players to a dark, supernatural version of Japan's samurai era. The game follows a lone samurai demon hunter battling ancient evil in a dark, stylized world. These theme immediately stood out when I played Mortal Oath, and I quickly realized that there’s more to this game than just visuals. It comes with two distinct bonus features: Corrupted Hunter and Night of the Hunt. Learn more in my Mortal Oath review below.

Theme & First Impressions

Mortal Oath is one of the most impressive debut releases I’ve come across, and much of that is down to the visuals. The hand-drawn artwork gives every character plenty of personality, while the gloomy temples, twisted demons and muted colour palette create an atmosphere that's both dark and immersive.

Rather than feeling like another generic Asian-inspired slot, Mortal Oath creates its own identity through its supernatural setting and cinematic presentation. It’s a unique game that doesn’t fall into the familiar templates we seen in many themed slots.

Gameplay, Bets, Features & Bonuses

Mortal Oath is played on a standard 5x3 layout with nine fixed paylines. The game offers a maximum RTP of 96.32%, high volatility and a top payout of 10,000x your stake. Bets range from 0.10 up to 100 coins, with the gameplay centred around the Corrupted Hunter feature and the Night of the Hunt bonus.

The pace felt noticeably slower than many modern slots. That wasn't an issue initially, but longer stretches without meaningful wins eventually made the gameplay feel a little drawn out. Base game wins weren't especially frequent, although the special features more than made up for it when they appeared.

Corrupted Hunter

Corrupted Hunter symbols only appear during the base game and expand to fill an entire reel whenever doing so creates a winning combination. Each Hunter is assigned a random multiplier between 2x and 100x and begins with three empty charge stacks. Every winning spin involving the Hunter fills one or more stacks, and once all three are completed, it triggers a sticky respin while keeping its multiplier active.

Although regular base game wins were fairly scarce during my session, the Corrupted Hunters helped produce several of my better payouts. Watching the expanding Wilds lock into place with their multipliers added an extra layer of excitement whenever they appeared.

Night of the Hunt

The Night of the Hunt feature is triggered by landing three Bonus symbols. It swaps the regular reels for a bonus round where sticky Demon symbols build an overall multiplier and special modifiers can dramatically increase your payout. Every new feature symbol keeps the round alive by refreshing your remaining lives, creating plenty of suspense as the grid gradually fills.

I triggered the feature surprisingly early in my session, and as more Demon symbols and modifiers landed, the bonus gathered real momentum before eventually rewarding me with a Mega Win. Filling every position with Bonus Demons also awards an additional 500x multiplier, giving the feature serious win potential.

Why I Like It/Why It’s Different

✅ Excellent hand-drawn artwork and a distinctive visual style

✅ The Corrupted Wilds make the base game far more exciting

✅ Night of the Hunt is much deeper than a standard hold-and-win feature

The drawback: The slow pace and long gaps between meaningful wins can make the base game feel a bit sluggish.

Verdict & Final Thoughts

Mortal Oath is an impressive debut from Foxhound Games. Its distinctive artwork, atmospheric presentation and creative feature design immediately set it apart from more traditional Asian-themed slots.

The base game can require some patience, with relatively few regular wins and a slower pace than I'd normally prefer. However, the Corrupted Hunter mechanic keeps things interesting, and the Night of the Hunt bonus delivers the kind of excitement that makes the wait worthwhile. Landing a Mega Win during the feature was easily the highlight of my session.

I'd happily return to Mortal Oath. The combination of its memorable theme and well-designed bonus features makes it one of the more distinctive new slot releases I've played recently.
