Homer's Odyssey is one of the most famous works of epic poetry in the whole canon of Ancient Greek literature, if not the world. The poem – which is partly a sequel to the Iliad – follows the exploits of the titular hero, Odysseus, as he attempts to get back to his throne on the island of Ithaca after the Trojan War.

Along the way our hero will get held hostage by a nymph, shipwrecked and stranded a couple of times thanks to the wrath of the gods, captured by a cyclops and almost drowned in a whirlpool. And, after all of that, he finally gets back home to find out that his wife, assuming he was dead, had began to look for a brand new hubby. Now that is an ordeal of epic proportions!
