The trio of characters presented to you look like total mavericks, just as you’d hope and expect. There’s a gentleman in a waistcoat with a monocle, there’s a woman in a purple dress and there’s a man wearing tartan plus fours and a bonnet. “Choose your Fortune Finder” urges the game. As you hover the cursor over each character in turn, they’ll utter a brief invocation or grunt of some sort to acknowledge your presence.

When you do select your character, you’ll be taken through to the game itself, which takes place in a charming green field with the auction house up on the hill and blue skies and puffy white clouds. It’s the perfect day in other words for sniffing out a bargain.

The aim of the game is to make your way around the board, collecting bonuses, activating mini games and generally picking up symbols. These include various auction house symbols such as rings, candelabras, statues and other artifacts, some of which look valuable, some not so much. As you proceed around the board, you’ll be greeted by utterances from the character you’ve chosen which attest to their frightful poshness. To advance, you click on the single dice in the bottom right corner of the screen. Its six numbers will dictate your fate and determine whether you win a little or a lot. Any time you land on a symbol, it will be added to your inventory, shown in a book in the top left of the screen. Fill a line to win that prize.

As you make your way around the board, the number of goes you have left will be displayed below the dice. Some squares contain prizes that you will win instantly such as 10 coins, while others give you the chance to roll again or to enter a mini game. In round one, this game will oblige you to help an old lady in unpacking her antiques. Click on the boxes in turn and if you match three symbols you’ll win that amount.

Find a Fortune is a mobile-compatible game which works well on desktop too. It doesn’t occupy full screen, but instead takes up a square, leaving blue space off to the side. On mobile, the graphics look far more convincing. One of the cool things about the game is that if you don’t win anything in round one, you’ll automatically qualify for round two. As a result, you’re at least guaranteed to have a good shot at winning some cash from this game.

It might not be the fanciest of games, but there’s something quite endearing about Find a Fortune. The concept of travelling around a board and mopping up bonuses in the quest of scooping major money isn’t a new one, but it continues to be an effective one. Find a Fortune isn’t fancy but it’s entertaining, regardless of which character you pick. Sure, the game will tire eventually, but for a while it’s all jolly good fun, with the sound effects enhancing what is an agreeable instant win casino game.
