Monte Carlo is well known for all sorts of reason, but it’s primarily known for its casinos and all the establishments around the world named after it. It’s like Vegas - everyone knows it because of its heavy gambling scene.
Is it any wonder then that Storm Gaming Technology created a slot machine to bring that lively scene into the comfort of your own home? Furthermore, is it at all surprising that they’ve chosen to make a 1-payline, 3-reel game that is based on the purest form of slot machine there is? The answer to both of these questions is undoubtedly no.
There’s a lot of bang for your buck here, should you make the right combos with the right symbols, and so we’ll take a closer look at the dynamics of the title to try and make winning as easy as possible.

There are many simulators available now that offer a virtual world in which you can play, and while this does achieve it, it’s in a very old school, unpolished sense. What this means is that it feels a lot less refined than what you may have come across before, but don’t let it put you off as the substance this game has is most impressive.
Instead of leaving you with virtually no decent gains to claim, Monte Carlo can give you 500 credits at the very top end of tile matches; if you have this kind of money in your sights, you need to locate five red BAR symbols. The issue with this is that, while a low variance game, the volatility is extremely high given the format of the title, and so the chances of being on the money every time is very slim. Not that that should deter you, but just keep it in mind.
All except one symbol are the BAR ones, with only the colour of them changing to represent some difference in value; the coloured wheel is your bonus round feature, which is probably why the brand has made it so noticeable. Three of them will grant you access to a selection of spins based on the amount of wheels you discover. If you find three of them you will get 3 spins, should you get four you’ll receive 5, and if you manage to locate all five of them you will get a total of 10 free spins. Storm Gaming classes this as its feature game, so make the most of it.
Before you go thinking that this is it wait a moment, because there is a gamble feature after every win you make, where you can either choose to collect your winnings or risk them in a guessing game. Your choice is whether the wheel at the top of the slot machine will land on either black or red. Very simple we think you’ll all agree.
Seeing as the gamble feature only lights up at certain times, there are only three buttons you need to use to play the game, with the fourth being a constant link to the paytable if you need reminding of tile values.
The betting range is between 0.10 and 10 credits, and you merely tap your way through via ‘BET’ to set the amount you want. If you’re heading to the top of the range and find inputting the numbers manually is too taxing, you have a max bet for your convenience. Sadly there’s no automatic play option available, which is most unusual for a slot machine to not include these days.
There you have it, everything you need to know in order to play Monte Carlo, and as you can see the interface isn’t complicated at all. In regards to the title itself, it’s one that we don’t think we’ll be playing again, even despite the chance of a good return. It just doesn’t look good enough to tempt us in, which is very shallow to say but it’s true nonetheless; it’s definitely one for minimalist gamers.
