Megaquarium Slot Machine
In an industry occupied by a lot of newcomers, it’s good to see seasoned companies still making it big with their games; RTG, aka Realtime Gaming, have been around since the late 1990s. You’d think due to their age that they’d be out of touch with what to offer users, but titles like Megaquarium say otherwise. The 5 reels of this underwater adventure isn’t as contemporary as other examples available, but it looks good and delivers features.
You’ll be swimming like a fish and go deep beneath the beautiful blue surface of the waters, where you’ll come across a haven for various creatures. Think of it as a virtual Finding Nemo. During your time there you’ll spin your way to multiple free spin bonuses, which sounds lacklustre, but they actually pack quite the punch. We’ve never before seen so much dedication to the extra games cause.
My Head Is Swimming
We wish we could say that the swimming feeling is down to the water rushing around us, but it’s actually due to the interface of this game. Not only are the 50 winlines packed with symbols, all colourful and animated, but the background is as well. It’s like looking at a virtual reality aquarium, where everything is moving and dying to grab your attention. Visually speaking it’s impressive, but when it comes to the gameplay, it distracts from the reels.
That being said, the theme is so well integrated that you get a seamless connection between the controls, grid and overall aesthetic. As much as we’d like to pretend that brands successfully do that all of the time, this is actually a rarity; RTG have done a great job. What is more, while everything is interconnected, you’re always able to navigate the control panel and find what you’re looking for. Yet another positive.
Five Little Fishies
All you thorough players out there will have no doubt been scoping the paytable already, figuring out whether this title is worth your time or not. During that investigation, you’ll have seen that there’s a staggering number of bonus icons: five in total. That’s a lot of bonuses, a cause for celebration… well, in a manner of speaking it is, but remember that these are all free games. Yes, five different tiers of extra spins await you.
The free games fish icon is the main tile to get, for it’ll give you the initial 7 spins for you to enjoy, but then any additional appearances from the super games or super mega games will get you extra spins. It all sounds very straightforward, but most of these icons can only appear on specific reels, and so your likelihood of triggering the feature is stacked against you from the off. Oh, the minimum bet here is 0.50, while the maximum is a shark sized 500.00.
Shooting Fish in a Barrel
Megaquarium has a progressive jackpot for you to aim for, with the figures reaching whopping totals into the thousands. There are two levels in total, and due to the fact that the jackpot is open to all paying players, it seems like the deal is sealed. Sadly, all is not as it seems. Even though there are two different jackpots to get your mitts on, you have to wait for the event to activate randomly.
Therefore, although you know is that it’ll happen at the end of your time with Megaquarium, but you’re not guaranteed that it’ll ever happen to you. Some of you probably think that gives an exciting element of surprise, but for us we prefer to know whether we stand a chance or not. We didn’t get a sniff at the money when we played, but that’s usually our rotten luck - maybe you’ll do better when you take the wheel.
Finding Atlantis
We’re not certain why you’d want to leave the comfort of this underwater grotto, but when and if you do, you need to have somewhere just as good or better to go to. Seeing as we’ve travelled the waters for some years now, both above and below, we know exactly where you should try next: Atlantis Wrath of Poseidon. Created by Gaming1, you know you’re going to get a distinctively different experience when you play. What is more, you’re going to be battling a god, rather than just swimming along merrily.
Season Ticket
This family friendly looking slot machine grants you access all year round, every day of the week, but does that mean it’s good enough to make it into your top 10 games? For us, the answer would be a no. Megaquarium is a satisfactory title from the RTG brand, and it’s managed to stand the test of time in a vast online market, but it just doesn’t deliver enough variance. The free games feature is overkill.
