Gunning for Goo

In Jackpots of Goo, players are free to play with coins ranging from 0.20 to 150. With every spin, the glass jars of goo occupying the grid tumble off the screen, to be replaced by fresh jars. Normally the control panel appears below the reels, but not here: you’ll find the Spin button and Total Bet tab on the right-hand side.

There’s also an Information port and a button for Autoplay, the latter of which lets you set up to 100 autoplay spins. You can additionally determine a loss or single win limit. Your number of credits is shown on a tab in the upper right-hand corner, while your total win is shown in the top left-hand corner.

Jackpots of Goo is a highly animated game. Each square on the grid is represented by a different jar, containing a different monster, each of which animates. These gruesome, large-toothed creatures foam at the mouth, rant, rave and stick their tongues out. There are green goo-creatures, red ones, pink ones, blue ones, yellow ones. They appear to come in peace, although they also seem to be batshit cray-cray.

The pay-outs naturally depend on how much cash you are staking. If you’re playing at, say, 3 credits per spin, they look like this: 1.50 for five red goo creatures, up to 15 for 10+; three credits for five green goo creatures, up to 45 for 10+; and six credits for five purple creatures, up to 150 for 10+. If you can afford to play at 150 credits per spin, you could win as much as 7,500 for 10+ purple goo creatures. In fact, you’ll win 300 for just five of these symbols. Of course, you’re advised to play within your limits lest you blow the kid’s inheritance.

No Ordinary Pay Structure

Normally in 5x3 or 5x4 casino games, the objective is to find combinations of three, four or five symbols, but that’s not the goal here. The aim in Jackpots of Goo is to find as many as the blighters as you can. You trigger pay-outs by finding five or more of the same symbol across adjacent reels. When a win occurs, the Crackpots feature will activate and eliminate a single line, which will be quickly replenished with a fresh allocation of jars.

If wins continue to cascade, you will progress through the chain of features, which include Shelf Life, Vats of Goo, Goo Wild and Slime Wheel. In Shelf Life, one of the four rows of goo will be highlighted, with every jar being removed. The remaining pots will then cascade and the empty space will be replenished from above with new lots.

In Vats of Goo, one of the pots of goo will expand into a ginormous vat, which is worth four pots of goo. As for Goo Wilds, between two and five pots of goo will be replaced with wilds to enhance your chances of hitting a win. The Slime Wheel, which is unlocked in the final stage, supplies multipliers of x2, x3, x5 and x10: just drag the wheel clockwise to spin it, then hope for the best.

The game’s wild icon is the one of the jar containing a pair of eyes. It is able to stand in for all others to help you form wins.

Going Gaga for Goo

Jackpots of Goo is a fun little game, but one which might be a little too feature-rich for some players. What we mean to say is that it’s a little hard to keep track of the pay-table (there are six different pay-outs for each symbol, depending on the combination), not to mention the numerous feature ‘phases’. The best thing to do is play this one in free mode. If you get a feel for it and hit some nice wins, by all means deposit some cash and give it a shot.
