Five Subroutine modifiers sit below the reels, one for each. Collecting enough symbols of matched types activates Subroutines at the end of cascades. Mystery X transforms symbols in an X pattern into the same type, while Terminate removes up to three symbol types for another cascade. The Upgrade Subroutine boosts random symbol values, and the Refractor turns up to five symbols into bonus versions. Refresh adds an extra row, to a maximum of seven for more ways to win.

I managed to build several of these modifiers over cascades, and all unlock in turn, which always led to new wins. Randomly, a Breach occurs, replacing all symbols at the end of cascades, although I didn’t see this.
