Fast Off the Mark

In most cases, video slots games can roughly be divided into two camps - classic 3-reel games that play just like a traditional slot, and more the grandiose fare offering larger reels (like 5x3), lots of pay lines, and various other bonus features. What would you do if you saw a game that didn’t fit neatly into either category? What if we were to tell you that this game combines features of other gambling games into one incredibly innovative and concise package?

If you are looking for a video slots game that plays unlike any other that has come before, hold onto your hats, as it is time to play Ready, Set, Go!

The whole game takes place in a huge Olympics-size stadium right in the middle of a track field. The game’s design is deliberately styled as such that it doesn’t actually focus on any one genre of sports, as the symbols include a whole array of items relevant to sports in general, rather than ones typically associated with the Olympics.

The menu’s interface is simple but cleanly designed, which is nice considering the non-intuitive setup of the game. Aside from that, the graphics themselves are basic but competently designed – at least it doesn’t contain those horrid child-like graphics that so many video slots games have been keen to adopt as of late.

Once Round the Track

OK, let’s review the technical aspect of this game. There aren’t any paylines in the traditional sense. Functionally, the six 3x1 “reels” act as their own payline – you score winning combinations on them just as you would with a standard slots reel, except that you can’t score any cross-line combos like you would in a typical video slots game. So it isn’t really 6 paylines, but rather six independent reels. Each line can have anywhere from 0.25 to 10 coins bet per “spin” (meaning you can bet up to 60 coins). The menu interface gives you the chance to change your betting size and the number of slots you play with.

The gameplay itself is pretty no-frills, as there aren’t any scatter or wild symbols, which would be pretty pointless in a 3x1 reel anyways.

Going for Gold

The game’s prize payouts are pretty basic, as there is no progressive jackpot, no winnings multiplier, and no free spins. It basically plays a lot like a classic slots game in that regard.

However, don’t be disheartened just yet, as the game advertises NeoGames’s famous 10,000 coin base jackpot, which on a maximum bet can yield a payout of 100,000 coins, but aside from that there isn’t much else to say about Ready, Set, Go. The payouts are large indeed, which certainly makes up for the paucity of other bonus features.

Put on your running shoes!

Ready, Set, Go is a really cool and slightly gimmicky addition to the world of video slots. The game offers some serious jackpots and up to six individual reels with which you can earn a ton of cash, but the gameplay is really basic aside from the innovative setup. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, the return to the roots of the series (in most regards, anyways) means that the game focuses on the core of what makes a video slots game great, rather than getting bogged down in a whole multitude of bonus features that may not necessarily add much to the overall experience.

The jackpots are nothing to sneeze at either, as Ready, Set, Go offers some serious winning potential, and you get up to six chances on each “spin” to make it happen. The game is basic, but will no doubt appeal to gamblers all across the spectrum.
